Read section 4.6 of the doc that JRB has given the link for and it says...
The architectural challenge in designing an expansion to the stadium is to
respect the original form of the building and at the same time to anticipate its
potential further expansion. The Club’s current demand for additional capacity
means that the extension will be focussed on one or two of the existing four
stands. As such the expansion will therefore unavoidably affect the symmetry
of the existing form. Only when the capacity of the Stadium is further
increased on the eastern and western sides would the building return to a
unified radial form.
The current plans for expansion, whilst possibly being a
stepping stone to the future, importantly needs to work for today.

So there you have it. Confirmation in writing (other than informed hearsay) that there are plans tucked away to extend the sides too at some time in the future...

As I have said many times. The plans are in place and have been for a long time. Once we consistently fill the proposed 60k expansion, further expansion will be implemented.

And once the first few phases of the collar site are open then I don't see why we can't do that. The 80k stadium is probably a good 10 - 15 years off but it will happen.

Remind me. When did our owner say he was f@cking off?

When the oil runs out, which is Monday 1st June 2015, around tea time

Exciting times indeed.

This has probably been asked a million times so sorry, but is there any chance at all the planning permission will be refused?
I guess there's always a chance, but (not that I know anything of these things and this is just my humble opinion) the regeneration of East Manchester is so interlinked with stadium that it would take a council made up of David Gill, the GPC, Martin Edwards, Pat "Impartial" Crerand, "Shit On" Lou Macari and Bryan Robson to knock it back.

GX, does a reconfigured third tier on the East & West stands take us to the 80,000 or does that mean a fourth tier all around the ground. Cheers in advance fella.

Anybody know if a major 'anchor' tenant has been secured (or at least, close to being secured) for the collar site? The kind of tenant that will help draw in up to 6 million visitors a year? There were also chitter chatter over another major sponsor, possibly linked to the site attraction (the likes of 'Disneyesque' were flung around at the time).
I'm sure there will be other leisure facilities on the site, but I'm intrigued as to the money shot....

Would a lack of securing one explain the delay in an announcement?

Aerial shots of the academy look great....it's nearly bloody finished!
