http://www.publicaccess.manchester.gov.uk/associateddocs/selecteddoc.aspx?104315-ssi-0010.pdf doesn't answer the question unfortunately.

"2.1 The construction programme will span approximately 18 months, for each stand, excluding
service diversions, with construction expected to commence spring 2014 (subject to planning
permission), and completion anticipated mid August 2015, ready for the start of the 15/16  football
season. The North stand could be constructed concurrently with the South stand or staggered by
one season or two seasons."

Can't get it on iPad,the PDF..don't get where the additional 2,000 pitch side seats are going to be created from....

I can only assume that the pitch level is going to drop again by a couple of meters and three of four further rows will be added, not sure whether this means the pitch will get slightly smaller.

i posted a picture of how they'd do this - lessen the rake of the last 4 fours so that 6 rows fit in for the same height drop but two extra rows stick further forward into the wide space between advertising hoardings and touchlines

And I think you can see it a bit on this shot - look at the way the lower tier is no longer straight it has a slight curve on it as it reaches pitch level

Interesting pictures in there but I think a lot of them have already been posted, apart from this one.....

:)
Really like this one. It's got a bit of Abu Dhabi style architecture...a dash of that Zaha Hadid to it.

The supports still look a bit odd on all the renders I've seen. Bit like when computer games environments go a bit awry (or at least how they used to). When they poke through the internal section to the exterior, I'm guessing they'll need a hefty amount of wet room grade silicone!

More than a few hints that further expansion in the future has been given serious thought. I'd like to think one day it could surpass not only Old Trafford (even with that daft 'cloud' supporters area shown last week) and the part time Twickenham venue...

Apologies Rick.

Hope you don't mind me linking the Etihad expansion thread on SSC?

I've posted numerous screen grabs showing enlarged renders of the stadium, stadium roof, tiers, seating layout, interior, etc. TBH there's too much to repost.

When I get time I will repost them on here.

Go to post 166. Some absolute stunning external and internal renders, as well as interesting info. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=109242167#post109242167" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthrea ... t109242167</a>

Click twice to enlarge.

Page 2 of the PDF (marked P75) confirms you will be able to get all the way around the third tier

5.13.3 New Upper tier GA offer

New General Admission upper concourse space will be created in the North
& South stands. Pedestrian access up to this concourse is via the new cores
built around the existing end masts supporting the roof. Two new cores at
each expanded end are accessed via new turnstiles and contain new stairs
and lifts which serve the upper levels. There is one MIP lift in each core. One
of these lifts double as a service lift serving all the new offers at the expanded
ends. An external balcony connects the new upper concourses via the end
ramps to the existing upper east and west concourses.
The new upper
concourse will enjoy spectacular views at both north and south ends.
The concourse provides a floor area of 0.25m2 per person, with concessions
and toilet facilities.
