In Sunday Mail today and stating if all goes well with the planning permission, work will start in Feb, what kind of work would they start during the season? Just unbelievable what will see in less than 2 years time at the ground and training complex.
This doc tells you about how they're going to phase the construction
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.publicaccess.manchester.gov.uk/associateddocs/selecteddoc.aspx?104315-ssi-0004.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.publicaccess.manchester.gov. ... i-0004.pdf</a>

The key summary is:-

From Planning Approval to end of THIS season
Phase 1 – Enabling works
 Site establishment, including removal of fencing to the rear of the South Stand and removal
of 2no. trees to allow access.
 Undergrounds services relocations (from foot print of new stands subject to separate
planning application).
Phase 2 – Substructure works
 Sub structure works (piling and foundations externally and internally)

During Summer 2014
Phase 3 – Advanced works (close season)
 Deconstruction of legends lounge and other works at box level
 Temporary propping and jacking to allow cutting back of existing roof
 New Steelwork and concrete slab up to level one to form a protected route for the public
 Installation of front row of columns for the new tier
 Erection of the Tower Cranes
 Relocation of pitch side services ready for additional seating

Throughout 2014/2015 Season
Phase 4 – Main Construction works
 Super structure – New structural steel frame and metal decking slabs
 Ground floor slab including drainage and service ducts
 Inner bowl precast terracing
 Roofing structure and coverings
 External envelope
 MEP installations
 Internal fit out
 Adjustment to the rear of the existing terrace
 Formation of additional rows of seating pitch side <-- this means at some point next season we may well get up to 49,000 in the ground
 External works

During Summer 2015
Phase 5 - Completion works (Final close season)
 Closed season works (existing roof removal and terrace completion)
 Testing and Commissioning

So in essence the stand and new roof is extended behind and over the top of the existing seating so fans are unaffected - and in roughly 18 months time they take out the old roof to reveal the new one above it!

I shall be watching JRB's photo diary of this over the next 20 months or so with baited breath!

No rush... but it would be grand. Wouldn't the lack of the box and surrounding seats keep us at a lower gate too?

Almost scared to ask this as I'm probably missing something obvious and that every City fan should know without asking, but what is the relevance of '911' in the 911 lounge. Can't think of anything to make the numbers meaningful. I've pretty much followed the thread continuously for a couple of years and I doubt I've missed much, but this seemed to come out of nowhere.

Having looked at the document I think that 911 and 330 might be the capacity of each of the lounges? I'm guessing these are therefore working titles...

Could be the cost of each per game?

:-)
