Then how will they put 3 new rows on the front?

Changing the profile of the steps at the bottom so it curves slightly...

There is a pic somewhere on here that shows it.

What does this mean? Like literally a row on the lowest level?

3 rows I think mate.

Spoke to someone about the collar site yesterday. He Knew about the longer term master plan which involves significant hotel schemes. A ridiculously huge souvenir shop on the collar site and also an area where city fans can use facilities on a par with the players for things like 5 a side, gym, swimming etc. from what he said what we have seen so far is only the tip of the iceberg. he said the development was in many phases and eventually involved building over the Mercedes garage.

I will try and find out more from him.

Bloody hell it's exciting enough already without this! Please ask your friend how long the log flume's going to be.

Can imagine this happening. Ours is already too cramped on a matchday. Below is a picture of Barcelonas club shop. Might give us an idea of what to expect. Did they give you any idea on timescales?

The souvenier shop.

That would make absolute sense. Either having it as part of the leisure destination on the Collar Site, or adjacent to it. The leisure destiation will have the biggest and constant footfall in terms of People, as well as being located next to the bridge, Alan Turing Way, and the expanded South Stand, which will be constructed and ready first. As it is the souvenier shop is tucked away on the wrong side of the stadium.

Here's a thought. Over time away fans on matchdays will begin to use the leisure destination, unaware that their money in part will be going to City.

Who'd have thought. After years of slagging Sheikh Mansour, the club, and us off, they will be investing in and bankrolling City's future. Ha! :-)

That's it! Shut down the metrolink, rip up the pavements, get rid of parking spaces big enough for buses. Make everyone drive to the ground and build the world's biggest filling station there. Messi here we come!

Oh and a multi storey car park beyond the gas things.
sounds good ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if your not on the top tier and one of the last out

We should have our own Trafford Centre called The Etihad Centre (or why don't we just called it The City Centre) and all the stores pay rent to us, as well as parking etc

...If we called it The City Centre all tourists and day shoppers will be diverted to our stores and put money in our coffers.

Thanks for posting them there pics jrb.

Noticed the south stand works yesterday but nothing starting on the north stand...I may have missed this during the past few days/weeks, but has it been confirmed that both ends are being done expanded the same time?

Obviously I don't know, but I'm now of the opinion that the South Stand will be the only stand to be expanded for now, along with the seats at the front of the stands. That will take the Etihad capacity to about 57,000.

Then again what do I know?

Here's a pic' of another Vinoly project with a stadium in its centre.

Perhaps a bit grander in height for Manchester though?

It's only the south stand for now.
