The truth is it is not any of those things and yes a lot of that immigration does fill skill gaps if it didn't they would be heading elsewhere. It's the crap that this is what is destroying the economy, the NHS etc and the fact no one is prepared to make the changes that would have to be made without it. immigration is something for people to blame for all their own issues always has been and always will be. First rule of politics if you don't want to accept and address problems deflect by finding someone to blame

Japan will bankrupt in decades and will show the world what near zero immigration does. It leaves you with a 250% deficit, a structural deficit, a dramatically ageing and shrinking population, negative interest rates and possibly the worst economic situation long term out there. Services are not suffering because of immigrants, they're suffering from needless austerity and the NHS is not creaking because of a growing population, it's creaking because of an aging population. Immigrants are a major contributor to our GDP not a drain on it.

I would agree on the deficit but would also agree that much of the austerity is needless as it could be dealt with by tax and spending
