European away games ticketing policy

I don't doubt your point. It's just that the people I know through Supporters Clubs have been away day regulars for donkey's years.

I did hear that a few people got to the Bournemouth game last year when maybe they shouldn't but I don't know the guys personally.

I think the Club's review into ticket points will be interesting. Even if the North Stand extension does not include extra corporate tickets, there will probably be more corporate seats in the East and Colin Bell stands (North of the halfway line). If the Club gives the Corporates first dibs on tickets then loyal fans' chances of away tickets will be squeezed further.
What ever decision they make will be interesting, please no fookin ballot

Spot checks are exactly the way to go IMO with penalties for those who get caught trying to cheat the system.

This is what United do and it would've drastically reduced the chaos we saw in Glasgow. Imagine it - instead of having thousands try to collect during a window of a few hours, select a small number at random after they've applied for a ticket - say 5% - to collect at the destination. That way you'd have less than 200 turning up and queue times would be drastically reduced. In turn, City don't need to put loads of staff on at the collection point so fans have saved a lot of time and the club has saved money. Make it clear that anyone who is caught red-handed having someone else try and collect for them will be handed a 12 month ban from applying for away tickets.

This is what United do and it's a no-brainer. Anyone that tries to cheat the system would be an idiot to risk a ban in those circumstances - just like that United fan who is currently crying all over the papers.
Fully agree.

The only potential problem is that you'd know in advance that you need to collect so if you didn't go and the ticket was not collected, the club wouldn't be able to apply sanctions if you came up with an excuse (e.g. health or family emergency). People would still risk it as the only downside would be the 5% chance of losing your ticket money. Maybe raising it to say 20% would be more of a deterrent.

Yet Barca has no collection. Today you can get return flights £70 from Birmingham £60 from london and tickets on general sale from Monday.
So where are all these people who moaned about the system not being fair as they couldn't get tickets?
Clearly a lot just want to pick and chose their games and only moan about games they miss out on and this is why they wont catch up with the so called points whores who flog their tickets for every game. The points whores will be in barca a lot of the people moaning its not fair clearly wont
*applauds*

If the club go to ballots I trust the club would refund all platinum payments, considering the package has been sold with the lure of loyalty points to get access to away tickets, to remove the present system would be tantamount to platinum being mis sold

Wouldn't a ballot system kill off Platinum? Why would the club do that? What incentive is there for the club to introduce a ballot?

I dont think that would effect anyone on here. Surely no one would 'buy' loyalty points. We have heard peoples opposition to Corporate fans paying more and getting access to tickets or supporters clubs getting tickets.

Im sure the moral guardians of the board would not advocate or take part in such a scheme.

Tongue in cheek this post but it does highlight the failure of the system in a number of ways.

Exactly, I will be sending in my request immediately, should that happen.

I've never paid extra for a platinum card. I go to all home games and the occasional away if I can get ticket. How does paying an extra £50 make me more loyal? Scrap the platinum seasoncard!

No of course it doesn't. I fully understand why people bought it though to keep up with others with regards points.

But it is another abuse of any ticketing scheme based on loyalty points, but as so many do it its widely ignored with the abuse flying at Corporate tickets and Supporters clubs.
