European away games ticketing policy

So having missed one game in 8 years and max 10 in 10 years, I now am expected to take my chances in a ballot?

Doesn't matter what you are buying. It's wrong.

Of course it is, but people are being selective on what they are outraged about when they are guilty of 'buying' a lift up the loyalty ladder. Arguably a Corporate fan could claim he is doing the same, just to a greater degree.

I dont blame anyone for doing it. It was a situation forced on people by the club. However I just had a look at my loyalty points and points were getting chucked around like confetti by the club a few years ago with a 100 loyalty points being offered for single home matches for the likes of Kiev, Reading in the cup etc. Its pretty unfair now, for the next generation To have a chance of catching up.

The most loyal fans still deserve to go, I am not in that bracket and so feel no ill-feeling when I miss out. I do think for yhe young generation its a real shame trying to catch up to people who earned there points years ago.

Weighted loyalty points to recent attendance and a small ballot of tickets, to keep a larger number of fans engaged in watching City away, would in my opinion be the best option.

I feel the same. having traipsed all over Europe and the uk spending an awful lot of money and putting in so much time and effort I don't think a jcl should come along and take my seat.

be careful city because us high pointers will find a new hobby if we are made to watch from afar. you will then be left with people who by the nature of their point tally aren't that arsed about following city. they WILL sell on their successful ballot successes. the plastics will have rich pickings and will be attending in their droves. then the ipads will come out as the atmospheres drop like a stone.

careful what you wish for.

Of course mate.
It's only fair that those who pick and choose games should be given the same chance as you to go.

Forget that something like 23 games last year went below 10,000 points' the middle pointers have spoken.

Told you before, this season and two more and then that's it.

A ballot does not have to work like that or be the sole method of allocating tickets.

Weighted loyalty points and a small ballot for achieving a certain points criteria could be an example.

Im sure, taking your situation out of the equation, you can see the benefits to City and the Club of engaging a larger number of fans in attending away games.

Quite rightly you will point out tickets do go on sale for the less desirable matches but attendance to those games alone is unlikely to help a young fan gain a Derby ticket in the forseeeable future. That only discourages attendance at away games, by those fans, if they do not see any chance of viewing the best games.

I do see your point of view though Bill although your terminology of plastics, Jcls I do not think is fair.

whoever they are they are not dyed in the wool blues. a guy walked to the front at spurs ipad at the ready. stands right in front us of taking pics and selfies. zero interest in the game itself or the blocking of our view. ****.

But I doubt he is a kid with 10,11,12k loyalty points either but still chasing the pack due to his age.

Thats another question how people like him get tickets. Personally I think City will never revert to a ballot where it is a free for all. Those who do go everywhere, I doth my cap to you, will always have first dibs on ticket, and rightly so, but It should be a bit more relevant to recent attendance than years ago which discriminates against younger fans coming through.
