European Super League | ECJ rule that UEFA and FIFA acted unlawfully in blocking Super League (p 29)

Maybe, but I really think this is being positioned to replace domestic leagues at the top level, if not initially then very soon after start-up. Expansion (further dilution) of the CL is bad enough, but it feels to me like ESL would be a death-knoll for top European (and uk) leagues. Local lower-league and non-league football could get a welcome attendance bounce.
There is no chance that any football nation (or the clubs in it) would abandon their domestic leagues. The PL is the biggest money-spinner of all. This is just scare-mongering promoted by media groups who would lose out in the new format. Lower league and non-league football is booming in this country like never before. Even Wrexham FC have gone global! This new proposal is a threat to the CL and UEFA can respond by cleaning up its act or it will be wiped out.

Pretty hilarious that Ceferin has said "football is not for sale" when every decision taken by UEFA or FIFA is based on what will enrich the federations rather than what is good for football and fans.
Lol. Footbal is not for sale. As if.

world cup 2018 russia & world cup 2022 Qatar say different.

just waiting now for WC 2034 in Saudi Arabia.

The rumours of Saudi teams joining the champions league also confirms they’re talking bollocks.
‘Not for sale’ hahahahahahahahaha

By replacing the CL. Last season we played 13 matches in the CL. Under the new proposal we would play aound 14 in the ESL.
Don't have an issue with a new competition replacing the CL IF its an open one with no fixed entrants but based on qualification on the pitch.

The reality though , even though its now being sold as such , it would not take long before the door was shut on most teams.

In effect the CL already to an extent does this by blunting the likelihood of new entrants through limiting investment of new owners whilst massively rewarding financially those who already have qualified but at least there is a slim chance of a new entrant like Leicester from PL or a bit of variety from the one/two team leagues who have the odd extra place.

The advantage of UEFA and FIFA competitions is they at least have to get widespread support to maintain there gravy train but in the ESL suspect there will be a handful of teams who will run it.
