European super league

Is there any evidence that this was about a super league, other than the Sun's version of things? Any quote? They don't look very smartly dressed for a big powwow.

It might have been about other things - a US-based summer tournament, for example.

There is no doubt whatsoever that if they needed to, these clubs could have arranged a meeting that was completely secret and did not find its way into the media. There are photos of people leaving, and there is an unconfirmed report of what the meeting was about.

These things did not happen either by accident or because those dedicated and intrepid news hounds at the Sun have reached new heights for investigative journalism. The story is a plant.

Why it was planted we can only guess at. My guess would be that the PL clubs want either to preserve or increase the number of PL teams in the CL and they are prepared to let UEFA think that a super league may become a reality if they don't get their own way.

That's exactly how I see it too. I guess it will start to unravel in the coming months.

They left one of the major hotels in the UK capital, through the main entrance, together, smiling and shaking hands, and there happened to be a photographer there.

They were seen because they wanted to be seen.

And they wanted to be seen by UEFA.
