We boo the current competition for corruption and for UEFA stealing money from our fans and not giving it back!

Moreso the second point and the CSKA Moscow farce where our fans forked out a fortune for flights and accomodation and were never reimbursed. The booing started at our game against Bayern last season (they too suffered a lock-out in Moscow) when both sets of fans joined forces to make our feelings known to UEFA.

Leaks like this are used to manage our expectations. Outrage at first, then when firm plans are announced further down the line people tend to say ' oh yes, I remember reading about that' and are more accepting.

There is no doubt whatsoever that if they needed to, these clubs could have arranged a meeting that was completely secret and did not find its way into the media. There are photos of people leaving, and there is an unconfirmed report of what the meeting was about.

These things did not happen either by accident or because those dedicated and intrepid news hounds at the Sun have reached new heights for investigative journalism. The story is a plant.

Why it was planted we can only guess at. My guess would be that the PL clubs want either to preserve or increase the number of PL teams in the CL and they are prepared to let UEFA think that a super league may become a reality if they don't get their own way.

I've never liked this idea and to be honest it terrified me in the 90s when we were at rock bottom and wouldn't even have been considered for entry.

I'm very much opposed to the idea but if it happens we have to be in it or forever be an irrelevance.

It would be poetic justice on Everton and Spurs if this were to happen though bearing in mind their role in helping form the PL and their preposterous nonsense about a "big 5". English football has never fit the European model of a few "super clubs". Historically there have been 10 giants (City, United, Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle,Sunderland,Villa, Arsenal,Spurs and Chelsea) in England and up to 30 other clubs who you could consider big in terms of potentially occasionally winning things: Leicester being one.This idea would kill all hope for their fans and is just plain wrong.

The prospect of losing most of our domestic rivalries and special days out like Sunday doesn't bear thinking about.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happened though.

I think I'd consider sacking off any association I have with MCFC if we backed this.

It's completely against where we've come from and how we've had to fight against the tide to get where we are. Why would we support bestowing the same ignorant treatment upon clubs who share the same ambitions we had.

We should in no way be backing the likes of MUFC and LFC in getting them to somewhere they no longer warrant. If they want Champions League football then they must earn it in the same way everyone else has to.

Fuck a super league.
