European super league

These wild cards, surely it would help us too? If we ever missed out surely we could be parachuted in as a wild card?

Not Arsenal, nor any clubs at the meeting, are seeking changes to the Premier League and European landscape and no conversations surrounding displacing the Premier League or starting a European Super League took place.

"Discussions were primarily around the ICC and formats of European competitions that would compliment the existing Premier League."

Is it me or are the two sentences contradictory

If they’d said “complement” I could understand the statement. As it reads, they would clap and cheer the Premier League. Homophones, they shore can bee a pane in the whole.

i heard that this meeting was about something completely different. Did say, but can't remember (old age) what.
Wasn't that earth shattering, i know that.

Why would you ever want that to happen? Football is not about winning at all costs. I personally don't see much difference between giving wildcards to the CL and awarding teams bonus points based on previous trophy counts. It's rewarding teams for success which is long in the past, and pandering to the plastic masses who control the game by pumping the money into the hands of the TV execs.

Yeah, Arsenal are claiming it was about a pre-season tournament, which is a pretty flimsy excuse considering pre-season tournaments do not need a committee of PL chairmen to plan. I see their claim as being little different to clubs ardently denying they are involved in a transfer deal until three minutes before the contract is signed, at which point they suddenly become very open about it because they know it's too late for anyone to do anything about it.

Cheers. That's the one.

What if there were four levels of Super League with say 10 teams in each and promotion and relegation? The also rans of European football could then have a Europa League styley tournament and the winners would go into League 4 for the next season. The clubs would get their way because if you were in the top league, it'd take a spectacular collapse to get thrown out. I know that this would mean only 1/2 or 3 teams across Europe getting into it each year but there'd be a way in like there is now with league football in England.

I know it's not ideal but nor does it have to be a closed shop.

Based on some photos of some blokes coming out of a meeting? Blimey - I'd feel sorry for the Accused if you ever sat on a jury.

I was replying to someone who was suggesting he didn't believe that the meeting had even taken place. I would say that photographic evidence of an event taking place does constitute an open-and-shut proof that an event took place.
