The money clubs make from matchday has been overtaken by TV revenue and a super League would make so much more that matchday revenue would cease to be important. They would still fill half the capacity every game with daytrippers anyway, and frankly they would start acting like half full stadia was the way football had always been. Trust me, they aren't going to shed a tear for non-full stadia which, for clubs like ours, might mean £30m lost if it means that they can get an extra £300m annually in TV revenue.
Yes and no. The product is only exciting because of the whole package which means passionate crowds and all the celebration and despair that goes with that passion.Fans from thousands of miles away see something in that, like our Aguero moment and want to feel a part of it. Take that away and you may as well be playing FIFA on a computer screen. Let them go ahead and see what happens.People in the end turn against greed and arrogance and they will come back cap in hand for fans to start attending matches again, only by the time they do it will be too late, the habit and loyalty will be long gone.
