The Attwell involvment is even more baffling. He has been a joke for years including giving a "phantom" goal which didn't go into the net for Readng v Watford. And his decision to allow the Fernandez goal (after Rashford shielded the ball for 20 yards in an offside position) in the Derby in 2022 was the worst decision I have ever seen.

They have been working in teams. UEFA like to keep officials from the same country together as much as possible.

So Taylor has had Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn, running the lines and Atwell as chief VAR for all his games.

There are only two English specialist VARs at this tournament and the other one, David Coote has been on all Michael Oliver’s games.
