Ever Blue

A few years ago Warrington RL club was close to folding so quite a few fans came up with money to pay off some debt. For doing this they were given a 'seat for life'. A few years later Warrington had the good fortune to aquire a new state of the art stadium courtesy of Tesco. These individuals who bailed the club out then found out from the new board of directors that their 'seat for life' wasnt transferrable to the new stadium.
I know its not exactly the same thing that city are doing here but it does highlight how things change when new owners/board take control

I've done the survey. Not interested. But.....

1. There's nothing wrong with them looking to make more money, provided it doesn't disadvantage existing ST holders
2. At least they ask for feedback from fans before doing anything

how doesnt it disadvantage season ticket holders ??? the club are basing loyalty on money imo.

They always do these surveys, they are just there to show they apparently listen. I doubt they do.

What happened to a season ticket just being a season ticket with out all the expensive shit included.

i dont understand why people are getting their knickers in a twist ,over this one ,how many people will take up /can afford this offer,50 or so tops, hardley a threat to anyone or anything

-- Wed Mar 06, 2013 8:15 pm --

i dont understand why people are getting their knickers in a twist ,over this one ,how many people will take up /can afford this offer,50 or so tops, hardley a threat to anyone or anything

personally for me the idea behind it is why i dont like it. It sounds like the club want to replace the poor fans and base loyalty on how much money you have. Only an opinion btw :)

I like the idea of it being hypothetical.... Welcome to the Eti(ever been)had.

Having been a true Blue for all my 58 years, I'm a bit worried that this Barcelona lot might want to backdate the plan and charge me for my past loyalty.

(My first seated season ticket was inherited from a deceased family member. I sat in block 'H' for the next four or five years disguised as my elderly aunt.)

This smacks of the Arsenal debenture without the 'benefit' of being able to sell it privately at a profit when you decide to opt out.

Some dodgy f*ckin 'executive' probably got a major hard on when he thought this up.

I wouldn't be surprised if the vast majority of 'traditional' fans don't go to matches any more in five years time.

I know there is no obligation to accept, its the idea behind that i dont like.

They have done numerous surveys on things like price "would you be willing to pay so much ...", i doubt lots of people said they wanted a rise in prices, but thats what we got. Theres been plenty of others like that.

wasnt there a report saying each club could reduce match day tickets by 30 quid ?? the club could make a lot more money from other areas, with the new tv deal aswell. They could chose not to target the fans with lots of expensive add ons. ticket revenue barely makes a dent on how much money we make

Yes because it's about vfm and the thought of supporting city through thick and thin to be shoved on back of third tier and probably pay more for the privilege whilst some high roller strolls in and gets premium view
may be too much to bear.

Level 2s be prepared to pay top wack or be moved, it is obvious what this is about, they want to achieve as much as they can out of match day revenue and the only place where they can get £800/£1000 per season ticket is in Level 2

It is a sad fact of modern day football but corporate is where the money is at, we fans are victims of the clubs success, and unfortunately we will have to pay our way if the £400million turn over that the top brass want to achieve, is achieved, and where better to start than the seats that fans have already agreed are the so called posh seats by the way of accepting previous schemes

if forcing out through and through blues and replacing them with generic but wealthy individuals is Soriano's idea then he should think again, isn't he employed to benefit the club? not turn us into a fucking glory club

Just mentioned this on another thread. Struggling with the whole concept really. I pay for a season ticket so I am entitled to that seat for league games. I renew in the appropriate window and I am entitled to that seat again in the following season. I do that ad infinitum and I as good as have the seat in perpetuity, yet they are interested in charging me a substantial premium on top of the cost of my season ticket to let me have that seat in perpetuity.

Don't see the benefit to me; not interested in handing it down to my kids etc once I joss it as of the 3 kids I have one is a season ticket holder and the others aren't arsed.

Or am I missing summat?

the club seem to be replacing actual fans. Selling the best views for a load of money and shafting all the fans who cant afford it to the third tier.

Im starting to lose it with football, i dont want to be a customer. I know thats unlikely now, but hopefully the bubble bursts and fans finally take a stand and stop going. We are not united or chelseas fanbase

Football is nothing without fans.

It sounds like you basically will end up having to pay extra every year to not lose your seat?
Doesn't it say a "one off" payment ?

Personally I'm against it, and have told them so, and I've also told them that expecting (or even asking) people to fork out more in this economy is taking the piss, especially as the new TV deal come in this summer.

However its clearly aimed at more corporate seats (note its not only season card holders that are being asked), and eventually this will reduce the number of season tickets available, as if the take up was even modest say 3-4000, thats 3-4000 that will have to move seats. If many of these come from newer richer supporters, I very much doubt they will reduce the amount of match day tickets available as they are a good earner, so the time will come where your loyalty points will be used to decide if you merit a season card.

Price of progress I guess, but as a couple of others have said, we'll be seeing less and less "old school" fans as we progress, and more corporate and tourists, if you can't afford to keep up, hard luck.

A lot depends on how much you can trust the statement that the current season ticket holder for the seat has to agree to move.

A hefty increase in ST prices in the "more attractive" parts of the ground together with an offer of a free ST elsewhere (eg likely in the new Level 3) by way of "compensation" would be hard to disagree with for many I suspect.

I take it some dickhead graduate from an independant company engaged by City has come up with this idea as a project

They can fuck right off!!!!

Is it me but does the name not sound more synonymous with an everton branded name than one linked to city?

they will never offer free season tickets, ever!

they are shafting old school/actual city fans with rich tourists and people who can afford it. the idea is a joke
