I think there are some valid comparisons and believe Everton is a good opportunity for a takeover. The model we have seen in Manchester with City was based on huge infrastructure and property development. Sheikh Mansour has more than tripled the value of his original investment and a large chunk of Manchester has been transformed...and that's just the start.A pessimistic Everton fan I know is comparing his club to us when we went down to Div 2.
The mismanagement of his club from the boardroom hurts him and all he can see is constant relegation unless theres a new progressive owner.
There is no reason why a new owner of Everton could not do a similar deal with Liverpool City Council which involves regeneration of a huge chunk of land in North Liverpool. The new stadium is a similar distance to the city-centre as the Etihad with lots of land available to develop. They have two universities and lots of start-ups with talented young people. Liverpool can replicate what Manchester has done in Ancoats and the Northern Quarter. It just takes a bit of imagination. The only obstacle (and it's a big one) is the lack of strong political leadership in the area and an ongoing problem with corruption and organised crime. This has held Liverpool back for decades.
