If he didn't shout, then it's his fault. If he did, then it's Nastisic at fault. Let's wait and see before we get the gallows out.
Rubbish, Nastasic had his eye on the ball behind him with Torres a further three yards back, the situation was totally under control by him. What he did not expect to see was Hart rushing out - there was absolutely no reason for it.
Hart was in the perfect position to see everything clearly. A monumental fuck up of the highest order.... and not for the first, second or third time this season!!

Agree, Hart entirely to blame but once the rash decision had been made both players are culpible in not straying from the coaching manual and improvising. Quite concerning that.

Keepers are told that once they commit to a decision to not have doubts or back down. To commit 100% to it.

But after just a couple of seconds of making his charge it was startlingly blindingly fucking obvious to him and everyone watching that he wasn't going to make it in a million years. And he should have had the automony to halt his run and step back into the area.

He may not have made it in time. It may have resulted in him flinging up his arms outside the box and getting astraight red. Or even see the ball fly over him but he would at least have had a significant head-start on Torres and probably then scrambled it away.

Either way checking his run - controlling his rush of blood - was the right course of action and perfectly possible.

Nasty too had time to avert from the manual. He had a couple of seconds of facing his keeper charge towards him and could have diverted his header.

I've got a lot more sympathy for Nasty but both showed absolutely no ability to improvise independent thought under an unusual situation. Which is worrying.

Nasty didn't get half a second, he had his eyes on the ball. It was Joe's decision that gave the goal away. All this shite about "just boot it" is finefor a pub team but we're talking about lads that spend alot ot time together and are at the very top of their game. A simple header back to the keeprs arms should be childs play for these two, sadly Joe fooked up. Annoying as we didn't deserve that.

One thread slagging Hart off not good enough for you De Niro?

No. I dont want him slagged. I want him replaced. It would be nice for joe to accept the challenge of a top keeper and stick around. My guess is he'll be off.

Who realistically can we sign that's better than Hart ?
Admittedly, I don't know keepers as well as I should but weren't we going to try for Begovich this past summer? Granted, I'm not sure that's an upgrade but if we're going to play a more continental style of football then maybe we should look there?

This is all said with the idea that we're bringing in competition for Hart, not chucking him out the window.

You're right, these are two lads at the very top of the game and consequently they should be able to instinctively adapt when things go beyond the playbook.

Nasty may have had his eyes on the ball but are you seriously telling me he wasnt aware of a 15 stone 6ft-plus guy clad in bright colours charging towards him? He had a couple of seconds of being aware of this yet kept to the playbook.

Now I know how harsh that sounds - and Hart was entirely to blame for the calamity - but both are culpible for not adapting.

99 times out of a 100 - as you rightfully state - it was a simple header back to the keeper's arms. And it should have been childs play.

But once that wasnt the case anymore both players didn't know what the hell to do.

DeNiro is right and this last comment enforces it. We're meant to have TWO top players for every position, keeper included. If Pantilimon isn't good enough to replace Hart we need to bring in someone who is and quick. Begovic is better than both of them and will be available in January if we offer him and his club good money.

I've not had the stomach to watch it again yet, but my initial impression was Nastasic saw Hart coming but thought we was going to stop inside the box where he could receive the headed ball. He went to do that and didn't see Hart outside the box until after he put head to ball. I may be incorrect. I happened to be seeing blood myself. I've never been that angry at a keeper before.

Not convinced that Begovic is an upgrade on Hart but it's all about opinions.

Joe gutted ? His biggest worry is what colour leather interior to have in his new Range Rover/Merc/Aston Martin and should he buy the latest 82 inch TV or just stick with the home cinema in his mansion
His biggest worry is when next to wash his hair. Vain twunt has spent too much time on his commercials and not enough concentrating on correcting his (several) weaknesses.

Crikey. I never thought you'd lay into Joe the waya lot of you are doing right now.

For sure, he's had a poor start to the season, but the potential to be a goalkeeping great is there.

He had that one special season where he seemed incredible - that season alone shows what Joe is capable of.

Do I think he's guilty of over-confidence at times? Yeah, I do, but that can be supressed.

Fuck me, de Gea was getting slated by all & sundry two years back, but he's looking like a top goalkeeper now, and I always thought he would be. It's just a shame for him that he has a shit defence in front of him.

Hart is going through a bad patch, and playing Pantilimon for a few games (in the same way Fergie played Lindegaard during de Gea's bad patch) would be a sensible call. You've just got to stick by him though.

The last thing he deserves is to be called every name under the sun and you want to be careful that getting rid of him now at the age he is at, doesn't come back to bite you on the arse in 4 or 5 years time when he's entering a goalkeeper's prime age.

Also, for those who are screaming for Casillas - there's a reason he's been dropped by two managers in a row now.
