Evidence for religion

So instead try to explain why you choose to believe this is a world where love, hope, justice, mercy, compassion, goodness and evil have no ground of meaning. Enlighten virtually all the rest of the planet who believe they have.
You’re a needy little fella aren’t you. You have to assign supernatural meaning to everything for it to make sense to you. By that reckoning, children dying of cancer and AIDS are also doing so as your god is a bit of cûnt.

As for yet another bout of argument ad populum;

1) I’ve already explained why it’s fallcious
2) “Virtually all the rest of the planet” is factually incorrect and hyperbolic
3) the fact you worship your god as opposed to an elephant, or a cat or some cûnt with a hammer is entirely down to the time and place of your birth. Are the humans born for 99% of human history (pre JC - the son of your god, not your previous Bluemoon ID) in hell or pergatory?

Exactly so, why do you feel the need to repeat my point.
Because it’s ridiculous to think of it as a binary position, each with an equal likelihood.

I can think of anything, however unlikely (say my pet invisible unicorn) and you can’t disprove it. That doesn’t make my unicorn as likely to exist as not exist and it’s existence a matter of opinion.

Believe it or not, but at Disney World last week I saw a plane above writing in the sky 'Jesus loves you'

The lunatics have well and truly taken over the asylum in that diverse and beautiful land.

Me and the Mrs noticed this when we went to Disney World a year back. Its mental how many religious messages they write in the sky.

Hope you used your Animal Kingdom fast pass on Flight of Passage!

Just trying to help you understand my position no need to be rude. I'm not using the overwhelming prevalence of religious faith as an argument from consensus, just as an illustration of the contrast with the tiny historic numbers of those who have none. The growth of that group is a consequence of the lamentable failure of institutionalized religion and the many artificial diversionary excitements of a globalized consumerist culture. The believers' problem of evil should not be an issue for the atheist and your multiple gods objection is simply trivial - concepts change over time along with their explanatory context. The ancients mused the earth may be supported by four elephants on the back of a tortoise, nowadays a pre-singularity multiverse is de rigueur - little to choose between them in terms of plausibility really. It's a question of context and you need perhaps to be more imaginative and informed to understand the pre-scientific paradigms. In passing I'd also point out that your ancestors were not so different from you. Irrespective of where and when they lived and its just plain wrong to think their powers of thought and reasoning are qualitatively inferior to yours.

Have you really not understood yet that the question of the existence or non-existence of God is not a scientific one? It is a different category of enquiry from whether flying spaghetti monsters or unicorns exist. As Wittgenstein put it: “Faith is faith in what is needed by my heart, my soul, not my speculative intelligence… Only love can believe the Resurrection.”

Straight up question then. If I love yoda, and I believe in all my heart he exists, does this put my faith on a par with yours?

Your ears and what lies between is the starting point. There's no proof of the existence or non-existence of God, nobody knows, it's a matter of opinion. Yet you've decided that we inhabit a purposeless chaos where your and everybody else's actions have no ultimate significance at all. Where's your evidence for that? Odd that we, and the apparatus to ask the question at all, exist don't you think? How do you explain why there is something rather than nothing? I'll help you, you can't.

no george, i have no credible evidence of a creator, and i don't know for sure if it is all a purposeless chaotic existence, but what i do understand of my limited understanding of the laws of physics, yeah there is no real meaning, that's no biggie just enjoy life with the emotions we have developed as humans for the short time we exist.

all the emotions you describe really only apply to humans bar the odd example, generally the animal kingdom is only to survive and reproduce, thats it

my conflict always comes with the likes of yourself who come here with the position you do but never back it up. i'm always willing to listen mate

Conflict is completely unnecessary and I'm sorry if my attempts to explain my views fall short of your expectations.
