Evidence for religion

For those seeking solace in these hard times, i'd like to share the 8 I'd Really Rather You Didn'ts proposed by our Noodly Overlord.

The 8 I’d Really Rather You Didn’ts

1. I’d really rather you didn’t act like a sanctimonious, holier-than-thou ass when describing my Noodly Goodness. If some people don’t believe in me, that’s okay. Really, I’m not that vain. Besides, this isn’t about them so don’t change the subject.

2. I’d really rather you didn’t use my existence as a means to oppress, subjugate, punish, eviscerate, and/or, you know, be mean to others. I don’t require sacrifices and purity is for drinking water, not people.

3. I’d really rather you didn’t judge people for the way they look, or how they dress, or the way they talk, or, well, just play nice, okay? Oh, and get this in your thick heads: woman = person. Man = person. Samey-samey. One is not better than the other, unless we’re talking about fashion and I’m sorry, but I gave that to women and some guys who know the difference between teal and fuchsia.

4. I’d really rather you didn’t indulge in conduct that offends yourself, or your willing, consenting partner of legal age and mental maturity. As for anyone who might object, I think the expression is go f*** yourself, unless they find that offensive in which case they can turn off the TV for once and go for a walk for a change.

5. I’d really rather you didn’t challenge the bigoted, misogynist, hateful ideas of others on an empty stomach. Eat, then go after the b******.

6. I’d really rather you didn’t build multimillion-dollar churches / temples / mosques / shrines to my Noodly Goodness when the money could be better spent (take your pick):
a. Ending poverty
b. Curing diseases
c. Living in peace, loving with passion, and lowering the cost of cable
I might be a complex-carbohydrate omniscient being, but I enjoy the simple things in life. I ought to know. I am the creator.

7. I’d really rather you didn’t go around telling people I talk to you. You’re not that interesting. Get over yourself. And I told you to love your fellow man, can’t you take a hint?

8. I’d really rather you didn’t do unto others as you would have them do unto you if you are into, um, stuff that uses a lot of leather / lubricant / lass Vegas. If the other person is into it, however (pursuant to #4), then have at it, take pictures, and for the love of mike, wear a condom! Honestly, it’s a piece of rubber. If I didn’t want it to feel good when you did it I would have added spikes, or something.

It's not evil if it is something that helps the person in the Eternal Hereafter. If God intervened in every instance, there would be no 'free will'. And God cannot be blamed for the free-willed actions of people.
"Hey there victim of child rape. Don't worry, it's all free will. You'll get yours and he'll get his in the afterlife that we have no proof of even existing"

God controls everything, but not free will? Do you see the flaw in the logic there. Then again he does work in "mysterious ways".

God in any form is as real as Harry Potter to me.
Religions however, is a form of hope and faith for millions. It may make absolute zero sense from a logical point of view or even a common sense one but for a lot of people it is a focal point, a beacon of hope, a comfort to know they are being looked after and living a life with a means to an end. I don’t know if they are on a productive mission or not. If it gives them comfort and gives them a little bit of hope then I say crack on. Ultimately being a good person is all that matters and if some peoples beliefs give them that then I’m happy for them. I myself am not religious, I don’t know what happens after death, I haven’t died yet. My mum has though and I do believe I’ll see her again one day. That’s my hope.

If he can't take blame for the bad, then he can't have credit for the good. And if he can't be part of either, what's his purpose?

what eternal hereafter? you speak as if its a given and god for that matter

That's not the perspective that the Prophets taught. They persevered with patience and glorified God despite the calamities that befell them.
[Q 21:83] And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, “Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

Everything will be accounted on Judgement Day.
[Q 99 6-8] That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds. So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.

And if he can't be part of either, what's his purpose?

He is part of everything in a subtle way. As Prophet Joseph(as) says when the vision he had as a child became reality.

[Q 12:100] And he raised his parents upon the throne, and they bowed to him in prostration. And he said, "O my father, this is the explanation of my vision of before. My Lord has made it reality. And He was certainly good to me when He took me out of prison and brought you [here] from bedouin life after Satan had induced [estrangement] between me and my brothers. Indeed, my Lord is Subtle in what He wills. Indeed, it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise.

Fake news.
Seven days. Rested on one of them as well. Legend.
If he'd have done the job in two days then rested for five we'd all have a better work/life balance. But those who wrote it probably didn't want their workers having too much time off. One day in seven so they don't croak too quickly; that will do.
