Dont know whats happened in last couple of hours, went docs with wife came back and they have stopped screaching and flying around like demented demons, it has been snowing heavy in Urmston for 2 hrs though, perhaps that has calmed them down

They do that after mating so expect between 5 and 8 lovely loud magpies in couple of months time.

Oh I nearly forgot more than likely they are a new couple and if they bring up their brood successfully they'll return each year, if not most likely another pair will spot the already built nest do some running repairs and have a brood of their own.
I'll look for the bump this time next year ;0)

Slugs drove me to near sadism last year after they wrought havoc in the garden. Then one of my tutors remarked that I didn't so much have a slug problem as a frog deficiency. I built a little pond, cut a small hole in my back fence and voilà. Frogs galore and fewer slugs.
