I know it might drive you mad OP, but the cold hard truth is that humans don't get to decide where birds make their home or where Nature flexes its whim. Slugs drove me to near sadism last year after they wrought havoc in the garden. Then one of my tutors remarked that I didn't so much have a slug problem as a frog deficiency. I built a little pond, cut a small hole in my back fence and voilà. Frogs galore and fewer slugs.

So all he needs to do is encourage falcons into his garden.

With frogs.

Now i dont like Magpies but i do like Falcons so who would win, theres only one way to find out FIGHT!!!

Its obvious that the problem is not the magpies but the tree. The tree being too tall. Thank yourself lucky it is nature that is annoying you and not neighbours from hell! I have a blackbird that camps on a tree outside my window and sings it head off . But give me that anyday than boom boom coming from a passing car.

What would you do if you had a wasps nest in your bedroom when you came back off holiday?

Put on my beekeeping suit and remove it. But I wouldn't go out of my way to either kill the wasps or blow up my bedroom.

I dont want the Magpies killing !!
I just dont want them nesting up a tree 10 yards from my bedroom window, if we destroy the nest they will simply move on

Magpies dont fight one on one they fight in a gang and would batter the sparrow hawk. Magpies are one of the most intelligent animals.

Trust me on this one, i have some experience in this

Goshawks are better than Sparrowhawks for killing Magpies, but they are rare in this country.
Goshawks are only found in remote areas of Britain cos of gamekeeper persecution, ironic really by killing the Goshawks have meant more Magpies and crows which still eat grouse and Pheasant eggs, go to a public park in Berlin are u will see Goshawks and fewer Magpies.

So buy a stuffed Goshawk put it on your bedroom windowsill .
