FA Cup 5th Round Draw (against Chelsea Home)

It will have to be a 'reserve ' side against Chelsea given this game is sandwiched between two more important games played only a few days before and after. Chelsea will be able to field their strongest side as they have no game in the week following the cup tie. We have to remain focused on our main targets and not spread ourselves too thinly trying to achieve the nigh on impossible quadruple and end up winning nothing.

Chelsea will have CL as well won't they?

They do but they don't play until 26th Feb, they spread all games out from now on, hence nearly a month between Barca games.

We could always be like the scum and just pull out of the FA Cup altogether................. Nah, fuck it, bring em all on!

Yes but their CL game is ten days after the cup tie, ours is three!

My two penneth..........

Play the strongest team possible vs Chelsea, and then review the situation for the barca game, by that I mean if we have any injuries it gives MP a little time to adjust accordingly. It is his job at the end of the day.

If there are no injuries, I'm pretty sure the players can handle 2 games in the space of a few days. They're finely tuned young athletes, not overweight fuckers (like me) in their Forties. We also have two bites of the cherry with regards to Barca......and I would imagine that they are pretty concerned at having to play us.

Hope that makes sense......I'm a bit pissed

"they have everything to lose, they are the team that were made to win " yes Jose your team cost tuppence to assemble didnt it ? just made yourself to look a total knobhead.

I'd go for broke against Chelsea. We can't afford to compromise in both games, or we'll lose both

These big games are much more draining than say today's Chelsea v Stoke game which was played in 2nd gear. Jogging pace and the occasional tackle.

The players might be fit but they still wont be at 100% if the same players play Saturday / Tuesday. We could get away with it if it was a lower league team in the FA Cup.

Take each game as a Cup Final, and don't look ahead. If we have to play a weakened team against Barca then so be it.

makes perfect sense to me.

I think some on here think what they post influences his team, but it doesn't, he will make the judgement at the time, on what he knows about the player fitness, and what his priority is.

Its fair to say he's doing pretty well with it all at the moment.

Agreed, but unfortunately I think CL is far more important to the owners and Pellers than the FA Cup.
