FA Cup 5th Round Draw (against Chelsea Home)

IS anyone else really struggling with their social life this season?

I keep talking to people who want to make plans or invite us somewhere and my first secret thought is "Must check the fixtures".

That's my default position, the first thing I do is check the City website to see who we're playing when I'm invited to do anything!

I'm juggling it well, so far. Still married and have only missed about two homes. But I've committed what could be the ultimate fuck up. My best mate did this one twice, once for the Gillingham game and once for the QPR game.

I've booked a week's holiday starting on May 24th. It was only afterwards I realised that that is the date of the Champions League final.

Sleep easy: we won't be in the UCL; that's the only prediction that I am making about this season. It's why I am not so willing to blow off the Chelsea FA Cup tie with a seriously under-strength (by our standards) team.

I had to miss the Watford tie due to a social engagement that meant I didn't have enough travel time to get home to Oxon and take the wife out.

it her birthday on the 15th and me like a d1ck head have gone and booked a hotel and fancy meal for the night and told her all about it. (I checked the fixtures weeks ago and assumed it was an international break as we had no game listed )!

im just praying its any time except the 5.30pm on Saturday otherwise i think i may e spending the night alone!

Two posters earlier said it was five thirty but failed to receal where the info came from..
Its like dave says..cant organise fuck all at the mo.

100% as far as i've been told mate. Should be announced at some point today. Think it's ITV's Saturday game

I made a tactical decision over Christmas. We had family/friends functions on boxing day and at the weekend, which is when we had the dippers and palace at home. Normally this involves a frank exchange of views about whether my presence is necessary but this year I traded those two games in in for some brownie points. there is just an outside chance we will be in two cup finals in May. I may need those brownie points :)

Normally this involves a frank exchange of views about whether my presence is necessary but this year I traded those two games in in for some brownie points. there is just an outside chance we will be in two cup finals in May. Haha - Total sympathy about the frank exchange of views as to whether your presence is neccessary. I've got three nippers, am a mad keen angler (including long-stay carp fishing) and have a busy social life, so I have to do some juggling, but my wife's really good.

After a few fallouts when the kids were babies, we have a deal. I'm honest about which games are "big" if there's a clash. At Christmas I traded off Liverpool for Palace and was happy with that. Cup finals, semis, home derbies etc I wouldn't miss and I'm very careful with booking holidays, trips etc these days. I assumed the 24th May was after the season when I booked it. When I realised I made a schoolboy error and said "Oh shit, it's the day of the champions league final" and started trying to negotiate. She was adamant "You can't let me fly with four kids (a friend is coming and they are 5-7). Promise me" and all this.

I took the strategic decision to agree rather than have a row over a 10% chance. IF by some miracle we do get there I have strategies up my sleeve, the main one being 'sadness and upset" rather than 'anger and indignation'. She probably won't be able to resist that. I even have a trump card as a last bastion of hope: her mum could go as it's a villa holiday, and I fly out straight from Lisbon on the Sunday.
