FA Cup 5th round draw - Huddersfield Town (Away)

I looked at their squad. Didn't recognise many of their players but they have Dean Whitehead, and Harry Bunn (ex-City), and Nahki Wells who I remember from Bradford City's recent Cup runs.

The big City connection other than Mooy, and Bunn is Mark Lillis who I remember from the 80s.
You missed our right-back Tommy Smith, who was in your academy before finishing off his apprenticeship with us. Thought he might fall by the wayside this season but he's really kicked on under Wagner and he's been like a new signing this season.

Seems to be a long time confirming day of game compared to blackburn! Does that mean both clubs are struggling to agree a day are we gonna get shafted again!

I think United were always going to be playing on the Sunday given that they're playing a Europa League match on the Thursday before and Wednesday after. Kick-off time hasn't been confirmed though for their game so the TV companies must still be negotiating just as they will be for all the other games.

For purely selfish reasons I want our game to be either a 3pm or 5.30pm Saturday game as I've made arrangements for the Friday night and I don't want it to be a Saturday lunchtime kick-off either because that limits pre-match drinking opportunities.

I would have to miss the rugby league if Hudders was on the Friday so Saturday would suit me too. I'm expecting a call back from David Gill to discuss!

In Round 3, 6 ties were selected for live coverage: Friday and Monday x 1, and Saturday and Sunday x 2.

In Round 4 there were 6 ties selected again but broadcast on Friday x 1, Sat x 2, and Sunday x 3.

I don't think it's certain that our tie will get televised. It's a good tie, but then many of them are potential giant-killers with Premiership clubs away from home. Huddersfield play on the Tuesday night so I doubt they'd be too keen on a Friday, but I think City would really like to play on the Friday night. Arsenal play before the FA Cup tie, so they are going to prefer the late slots.

If it is televised, I'd say Saturday is most likely.

Blackburn managed to put out a message almost straight away that they would be playing on Sunday so it sounds to me like a decision had already been made. How could they announce the KO would be on Sunday, unless it had been agreed by the FA, and surely they couldn't do that unless the KO for all the ties had been resolved. But then they do what they want without much regard for the consequences for the football clubs.

I have mate, and I've never been chased by them yet. It amazes me how seriously some people take certain posts.

I actually thought you were a flapper mate. If you've been many times, then you'd know the score. Why did you say that then?

Just adding a bit of humour to proceedings ;) You got your running shoes ready?

Regardless, one can encounter trouble in the most unexpected of places. Back in the 1997-98 season we took over the pubs around Prenton Park and there was hardly a Tranmere fan in sight prior to the match, but the guy who organised our minibus had this bright idea to tell the driver not to pick us up until 6.30pm - over an hour and a half after the match ended. By that time the vast majority of City fans had gone home and those boozers that were totally safe beforehand filled out with their nutters and we were the only blues left by that point.

Incredibly, the following week at Norwich - arguably one of the safest places in the country - we walked right into their mob straight after the game as they were busy calling it on with a few blues over the road.

I went to every away game in the league that season and those 2 matches were the closest I got to witnessing any mither which is quite remarkable considering we had the likes of Millwall in our division.
