FA Cup Final - Post Game thread

Yes we have just won 4 in a row but you can't tell me that the standard of our football this last season has matched that of our trophy winning seasons in the last 6 years.

Yet again we've made history but it's been a hard watch at times. You'd have to be blind to see that we've simply not been as effective as we have been in previous seasons. As yesterday and the Arsenal game showed, teams now know that if they stay deep and compact we will struggle.
Agreed. How do we overcome this then? Haaland seems wasted against this type of defensive tactic, Doku seems promising but often the ball ends up intercepted, and hoping to score worldies from outside the box is not a safe tactic.

I agree Doku did well yesterday, but I also feel like it might be further proof that the rest of the boys were exhausted. Doku was definitely used more sparingly during the run-in and probably had energy to burn compared to the others on the pitch. I think some of his plaudits go Pep who used him in a way we know him to be successful.

100%. We were a fair waydown on the standards we set last year. As for being an attractive watch? Well; we're biased, so a lot of City fans will say we were. But I can see why fans of other clubs wouldn't find us a riveting watch. We tend to grind the opposition into the ground, rather than do them with spellbinding football. We're arguably a better team than the Centurions side, or the following season. Last June in Istanbul is strong evidence in support of that theory. But are we as attractive to watch? Hmm.

I noticed yesterday that United were happy to launch it up the field knowing our defenders would win the header, then their midfield pickd up nearly every second ball, creating a turn over of posssion 40 yards from our goal. Not pretty but effective.
You can't blame them. Every club, including us, will utilise the tactics that work best for them. That's precisely what the rags did yesterday. There's fuck all finesse to it. But hey, it worked.

Yes we seem a stronger more complete team who as a general rule tends to find the answers but I loved watching that centurions teams, they were so exciting to watch.

We’re definitely not as good to watch. I don’t think we’re as good a side either. Yes this team won a treble but as we know cup comps can just come down to a bit of luck on the day or a bad decision. The league shows how good a side is consistently over a season and that side did something that will probably never be done again.
