FA Cup Final Post Match thread

Once again we crawled up to two lines of four opponents across their box and then played tippy tappy until the ball fell to a wigan player.

Its like ground hog day watching us of late under Bob.

I will be kind and accuse him of being a stubborn fucker rather than being a clueless one but whichever way you look at it, it isn't working and its spelling the end of his tenure with us im afraid.

Best team won.

Calm down everyone hope Mancini stays.

Looking forward to next year.

Happy Happy days.

Unfortunately doesn't answer the question why wigan were the best team.

Just to try draw all this together, then:....

There seems a genral consensus that we didn't turn up today and that the better team (on the day) won

there is no issue with the ref (didn't get it all right but generally fair)

the blame game seems to be shared between

a) the players' attitude and effort
b) RM's tactics
c) the destabilising of the club by the rumours that were, (having bubbled under for a while), allowed to explode onto the meeja front pages on the eve of / morning of the FA Cup Final and cii) the failure of City's Press Office to sort this

Any thoughts on how these factors interplayed ?

If I was guessing

- Spanish duo pursue Pellegrini
- Mancini gets angry threatens resignation
- players sense tension / are distracted + mancini is distracted.
- press office ignore all of it as City do want pellegrini in and bob gone.
- we play shockingly badly

Then how do we explain Wigan? Roberto Martinez is leaving for Everton, and somehow they didn't get distracted.

The media targets all clubs on cup final days, I remember article that Pardew was leaving on our cup final. I don't think players earning 200k a week actually give a shit if there manager is leaving or not .

hey hang on a minute....

we are allowed to get beat you know!

the law of average says that we will get beat once or twice in the odd final or three...

we have lots of money...doesn`t give us the right to win every competition we enter...

we have won the fa cup and the league on in two years...

we went 35 years winning fuck all...

WE HAVE TO ACCEPT DEFEAT IN FINALS OR ON FINAL DAYS!!!

we are at the top table now,we are a major scalp to all and sundry....

(between me and you,if utd or a Chelsea or a spuds would have turned us over the pain would have been unbearable...)

well done wigan,i doth my cap to thee, you wanted it more, congratulations, the best team on the day won....

a huge, massive year for us next season, let the lesson begin today...

This i still remember the days when i dreamed of City being in a cup final, never mind being the favourites to win.

All up hill from here.

One word sums it all up really. Pace or lack of it to be precise.

Wigan played 9 at the back, so I don't think pace would have done it....tho I know what you mean

A player who will beat a man and whip in a cross is needed tho

We play a style where we need several intricate passes and flicks to come off around the boss to create chances. Great when all are on song, but today....

Its not been 'on song' all season. Its like watching barcelona without Messi & just as productive.

Once again the plonker takes the flair players off just when we need them and brings the plodders on. Taxi.

Que?

Well said Rammy Blue. Too many toys being thrown around. Man up and grow a pair all you outers. Mancini has just tactically destroyed the 'world's best ever manager' at the swamp.
Short memories tut tut.

Our midfield was woeful today, truly shocking display.
Where to start?...

The Tevez and Nasri substitutions were absolutely baffling considering they were the only players creating upfront. Certainly others deserved to be subbed before those two... Aguero, Silva and Toure for example.

Silva was particularly dreadful today, his game was summed up for me in the second half when Mcmanamanamanamanamanaman (i believe) literally walked past him on the edge of the box. It was genuinely shocking for a professional footballer to not even get a foot in.

Although he's never been the quickest, Barrys lack of mobility today was seriously abused. Yaya basically walked around the pitch all match gasping for air. Whilst Wigan won the midfield battle with ease and played between the lines no problem at all.

We seriously need to put some energy into the center of midfield, there was absolutely no pressure on the ball at times. And that could have been resolved by putting on some industrious legs in the form of Milner and Rodwell.

Also, how hard is it to spot when a player needs help?
Clichy was given an absolute torrid time, yet mancini does fuck all.
Put milner on that side with him, if you're going to put him on a wing. At least milner puts in a shift defensively and could have stopped mcmanamananans significant impact on the game.
Fantastic. Someone posted us against those fucks. Have you seen the difference? How's he not kept that going? Coz he can't.
I'm not being funny, but i dont understand what you're saying?
