Fabian Delph

If we're playing 3 in midfield next season (which seems reasonable if we get Sterling & De Bruyne because Silva has to play) then Yaya/Pogba/Fernandinho would be the dream 3 with Delph/Fernando from the bench. If he's ahead of Fernando in the pecking order than it doesn't seem insane from his perspective.

I'm not even fully convinced he is good enough, but I can see the logic in the move and certainly am not dismissing him.

Hypothetically, which other HG player would you target instead of Delph - any position?

Sell Willy, get a young promising HG keeper in which frees up a foreign spot for a much better midfielder?

Here's the thing; Dwight Yorke was Aston Villa's best player. Rooney was Everton's best player. Cole was Newcastle's best player. Van Der Sar was Fulham's best player. Carrick was Spurs' best player. All went on to contribute to the rags success under Ferguson.

Barry was Villa's best player. Then Milner. Lescott was Everton's best. Hart was Birmingham's best during his season on loan there. Nasri was Arsenal's best the season before we signed him. All contributed to our following success.

David Villa was Valencia's best player, latterly Jordi Alba. Dani Alves was Sevilla's main man, so was Ivan Rakitic. Going way back, Rivaldo starred for Deportivo before Barca. Just a few names that went on to star for Barca having previously prospered within the league.

Neuer was a star for Schalke, Kroos and Lahm excelled in loan spells at Leverkusen and Stuttgart respectively. Dante and Luis Gustavo were signed from within the league, and all helped Bayern win the European Cup.

Buying up the best players from lesser teams within your league has always proved a winning formula; the fact we are now being forced to do it will be a blessing in disguise.

Central midfield in the Premier League is unique, and that's why it's best to buy proven players in that role where possible. Anderson, Garcia and Fernando flopped here despite looking like powerhouses elsewhere; even someone supremely talented like Veron couldn't handle it.

Delph won the battle against the LFC midfield a few weeks after Henderson and Allen hammered ours; his performances in the past 2 years have earned a chance to develop further around better players.

The rags are set to spend £25-30m on Schneiderlin, who was good but no better than Delph last season. We are getting a fantastic deal.

It's important to remember that our midfield has regularly featured Garcia and then Fernando in the previous 2 years, and despite the hyperbole surrounding him at the minute, Fernandinho's form was patchy at times last season. Adding Delph will balance us and add dynamism to a key area of the field, a fundamental element that neither Pogba or De Bruyne will.

I'd prefer Schneiderlin tbh (who is also HG), but I suppose even we're on a budget for this position!

His buy out is only for champions league teams I think and Chelsea have cesc, mikel, ake, ramires, van ginkel, matic, lotus cheek and romeu to name a few. The rags has blind, Carrick, Herrera, Powell and fellaini , arsenal have rosicky, arteta, Wilshire, Ramsey, flamini and coquelin. We have the weakest cm out of the top teams even with pogba we are still short on numbers and need home grown players can't see a downside to this signing. We have two injuries or suspensions in cm and we could be playing Fernando in a two man midfield he is useful in a 3 man mid but in a two man we would get over run by most decent teams!
