I'm going by this;
But that's incorrect. You just can only name 17 foreign players, so to name a full 25 man squad (which pretty much nobody does) you have to name at least 8 HG players. We didn't have 8 HG players last year. Maybe technically you need to name 8 HG players, but if you don't have that many you can just name any old player from your academy to make up the numbers, it's a complete non-issue.

That's not exactly true though, we couldn't name Lopes as one as going by the offical Premier League site he is not classed as home grown yet.

Edit; Nope, I misunderstood your post. So what is the ratio if there is one?

Totally confused by the rubbish I read on here. We are signing a 25 y.o centre mid who if we we sold we would probably double our money. Plus one of the things we lacked in Fernando was mobility in the middle. Delph is quick and will cover the back 4 well. Looks like a no brainer to me. Worst case we get more back than what we paid.

Yea, just like we doubled our money on Adam Johnson?, Rodwell?, Sinclair? These players were peforming better and younger than Delph at the time. You're the one who's talking rubbish. To think that we will buy a 25 year old bottom 10 player and "double our money" if he fails, is pie in the sky talk. Radio back to earth, please.

Anyone who's been here 3 years after they were 15 can be named as HG, but you don't need to name any U21 player, HG or not and they can still play. For the CL it's slightly different, but still not taxing. We couldn't name Lopes as a HG player last year, but we didn't need to name him at all for him to be allowed to play.

Yeah, sorry edited my post as I misinterpreted yours. I know what constitutes a HG player.

Is there a ratio of HG to foreign players? If a squad of 25 requires 8, is there a set number for lesser totals.

Nope he is right and you are wrong, Delph is a decent player, and a better and more consistent performer than any of those you mentioned

Would love to favourite this only one idiot around here. A 25 year old full international and some idiots moan. Absolutely clueless.

We made money on Johnson - neither Rodwell or Sinclair were established players.

The last time I checked the rules we had to have a quota of homegrown players. Milner, Lampard and Boyata all left. You do the maths Sherlock.

Delph is a player we were interested in years ago but he chose Villa for more first team opportunities at the time. Now he has matured and improved and appears to be an established England international. At 10 million he is a snip and up's our quota of home grown players.
