There isn't a ratio, it only effects a full squad of 25. (so you can go 17 foreign, 0 HG if you really wanted) We had a slight ratio going last year due to our CL restrictions, but they were made up on the fly it seems and aren't relevant anymore

One area we were lacking last season was fast, energetic central midfielders. So we're signing the best available home grown one and people are unhappy. I don't get it.

We made money on Johnson - neither Rodwell or Sinclair were established players.
The last time I checked the rules we had to have a quota of homegrown players. Milner, Lampard and Boyata all left. You do the maths Sherlock.

This is not a homegrown issue. I agree that English football is bereft of quality home grown players. The only way City buys Delph is because they could not find anyone else in terms of quality per pound. This debate is clearly about largely unsupported claims that he will get into our midfield ordinarily or that at we could "double our money". Neither of those are realistic predictions.

So what "quota" do we realistically have to fill for the upcoming season, roughly; based upon rumoured ins and outs. The word quota is the problem that trips people up, there is no quota that we have to fill. If you want a first team squad of maybe 22 players, even if they are all over 21, you still only would need 5 of them to be HG. Homegrown playes just make building the squad easier, they aren't essential in the way that the media all of a sudden seems to be presenting them as. It's entirely up to how big we want our squad to be really, but the only important number is the 17 foreign players over the age of 21, how many homegrown players you have on top of that is completely up to us.Yes, Schniederlin.

i dont recall people getting to exited about milner when he joined ,but the guy just got his head down and became a valued squad member,hears hoping delph does the same ,we are giving him the chance to be part of something special its up to him to grasp the oppertunity
