Once again the "snob" claims come about. It has nothing to do with him being English or that his name is not Delphinho.

You say free up one of the HG spots, but as @BigOscar says it's not that we have a limit we have to meet. I went into detail in a previous post, I don't wish to do so again it's there for anyone to see.

Regarding a 'keeper I see no reason why someone like Green couldn't come in as back up.

I think you may have misunderstood me, I said replacing willy with a HG no 2 keeper would free up one of the non-HG slots of which there are 17. We could then accommodate another non-HG elsewhere. Was this not why you suggested signing a HG no 2 keeper earlier in the thread? Green would not be a bad signing but I'm not sure he'd be willing to be a no 2.

So serious question would you rather have a squad of say 22 with no Delph than a squad of 23 with Delph?
Even though it's not a serious question and we both know it, can I add my own third option that's equally as apt?

I'd rather a squad with Messi in it.

Obviously I'd much rather we didn't sign him and look elsewhere if CM was deemed a priority and obviously we have more than just the two options of sign Delph or don't sign Delph.

It is a serious question. We are in 4 competitions next year. If we don't fill homegrown slots we have no choice but to have a smaller squad. If we have a smaller squad it may mean key players having to play in lesser games before bigger games. It gives us less opportunity to rest players whilst maintaining winning.

But yes Messi will do for me as well.

More than enough reasonable alternatives have been offered in terms of HG players and ways to fulfill any need for them.

Such as who please. Sneiderline? Would cost £20+ and guaranteed playing time offered elsewhere at decent clubs. Wilshere? Not happening but would cost £30m plus. Can you name me an home grown international available at less than £10m that has resale value.

Actually, we wouldn't have no choice but to have a smaller squad, we could have just as big a squad just so long as it had some players under the age of 21.
