In that case who would you buy?
17 foreign + Hart, Clichy, Wright.
Promote Denayer, Lopes and Iheanacho = 23, leave it blank for CL as it's only the occasional game and we can't fill the club-grown quota anyway.
Add 2 of Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse, Sterling, Ramsey or Oxlade-Chamberlain. Not saying all 5 would be likely options, but that's the list of 5 outfield players that comes to mind as being of the required calibre. If we can't get any of those 5, then at a push a Wilshere or a Barkley, but otherwise leave the spots free.

All of those 7 players would cost £25m at least. We are talking about a squad player for £8m.

s'what a transfer budget is for, I don't see why it has to be an £8m restriction, particularly when the first choice was Wilshere for £40m+.
It's the Hazard/Sinclair, De Rossi/Garcia nonsense of an argument.

Not if we are spunking £150m on our 3 main targets.
There is no comparison between hazard and Sinclair at all. Delph isn't going to be an alternative to our top target, he will be to compliment or provide rest or as cover. You want to spend £40m on an understudy. Someone who isn't going to get in our best 11.

You have no idea at all how 3 of those will fair in the league or whether they are ready yet. Plus of those 7 how many play centre midfield?

We have lost 2 players who could play centre midfield. Lampard and Milner. Fernando didn't pull up any trees either. So maybe the management see it as somewhere we are short.
I'd love to share your optimism that Lopes could play that position but I don't.
