Fabinho

The links to Carvalho have been floating around Portugal for months.

According to an interview Fabinho's father gave on French TV, City have been in discussion for him since before February.

He isn't a Johnny-come-lately player lumped in because we are signing Monaco and Brazil players, but a long held target for City and Pep.

And considering Silva and Mendy are coming, surly we would have heard more about Fabinho coming if he actually was?

Maybe you just haven't been paying attention. The bookies think he's more likely to go to us than Mendy is, who is pretty nailed on right now.

France Football just yesterday said Fabinho is excited to come to City.

That guy in Portugal tends to be spot on with info.

So does Gerard Romero (broke Jesus, Sane, Nolito etc last year), who says Fabinho is coming to City.

I'd love to know is this us just talking to other players or talking to Carvalho because he's our top target/we're not pursuing Fabinho.

Here's the rub: we may well be talking to Sporting about Carvalho, but that doesn't mean we aren't signing Fabinho. Too many people, including chronic knee-jerkers like Shane Burns, have jumped to that conclusion and it's simply false.

If the only target in the position we have is Fabinho then Monaco can hose us. That's just one of many potential reasons we may be in talks with Sporting.

My personal feeling is that it's difficult to imagine Monaco will part with three of their successful team to just one club in just one window. But you never know. It's still so early in the window and at the moment, we should wait and see before suggesting we've moved on from Fabinho.

That made sense. And a lot of it.

It could just be that we have Nasri & Mangala going the other way!
