Why are some of you holding grudges over his harmless banter "15 men" comment? Fabregas is exactly the type of player we need in our squad to move this club forward. He may very well be percieved in the media as a bit of a "twat" but theres no doubting he is a world-class footballer. If Arsenal are willing to sell, and Cesc wants to come then I can't think of a logical reason really not to buy him.

That IS a lot of money, and I'm not sure how such a high fee could be justified considering his frequent injuries.
Having said that; what a massive signing he would be. Mindblowing to say the least, and if he stays fit, well then there are not many players in his position better than him. Exactly what we need as well.

Would this mean Mata is out of the question? Can we really sign two attacking mids, whom both are playing for the Spanish national team, in the same window?

Why would you want a player that doesn't even want to be at Arsenal (where he's been for a long time now). His heart is in Barcelona and he's waiting to take over from Xavi there. There are other creative mid fielders around who would have their heart in what they're doing, not constantly dreaming of greener pastures.

If you some how got him, you'd be taken to the cleaners by Wenger and he'd end up being more trouble than he's worth with the annual Barcelona saga.

I never put Fab in my line up and the only one which we haven't been linked to for a while is Coentrao... TBF I think being a little bit over excited is how I should be. We are not just plaing in the CL to make up the numbers. Mata and Sanchez together with Silva look like a very good combination and are realistic targets. The Belgium defender would be perfect for us and Coentrao is gettable if we are willing to pay.

Respect to you, all I'm really trying demonstrate is an MCFC team which had a chance of winning the CL might look like. For me it's really about the squad and 4 to 6 players of real quality will be needed if we are to step up a level in terms of staying in the top 4 plus challnging on all fronts. I think over time our best 11 could be the one I posted. As we all know injuries and loss of form will dictate the team and we were well short of quality during the end of Jan through to April e.g. Silva gets injured and we were poor. If we got these player we could see one week Sanchez Silva Mata and then the next AJ Sanchez Mata and or Milner Sanchez AJ.

In short I think Sanchez and Mata gives us the versatility we need.

I think this point is 'bang on'. What we need to do this close season is not improve our first eleven too much but build a squad of 25 that allows us to maintain the level when a few people are out or need resting. At the moment we cannot cover for Silva or Kompany so we need to lift the level of the squad and should not be moving too many out - other than those presently out on loan.

my twopence worth is that concentrating on just the starting 11 will be misleading; our management is looking to build a squad of rotating players simply to cope with the demands of all the games we're expected to play next season.

I'm sure we'll have a punt on Fibreglass (along with a few others) and maybe a handful of new players will be arriving at City soon to strengthen us even further.
