Fans going to Wembley for the Community Shield

Stupid is as stupid says.

If you don’t stand up for something, you’ll fall for everything !!
We're not exactly standing up for something of massive importance here like taking a stand against the government's continual rip off of working people - something I have a history of doing. Yes, the timing of matches like this are crazy, but if any boycott was to be successful it would need to involve both sets of fans - and yes I know Arsenal fans can walk to Wembley. The attempted boycott had good intentions.

2 of us travelling from Newcastle central 8am train down 8 pm train home from kings x,few beers in euston then train to Wembley.

Don't tell me there's a rail strike again

Don’t think there’s ever been a rail strike on a Sunday. Although going forward if there are strikes on the Saturday before a Sunday game, it could affect the early morning trains. But as the other guy says, it’s too late for them to call a strike for that weekend now anyway.

10 years ago I would have watched City at 4 in the morning if it meant a trip to Wembley.

We now have a vocal minority in our fanbase who are very spoilt and raggish. Imagine 10 years ago people trying to demand certain kick-off times and locations in order to attend a final.

The same ones will be grabbing at everything they can get their hands on if we reached Wembley next June. No trains back after that game either, lads. Are we going to push UEFA for a mid-afternoon kick off?

There is nothing spoilt or raggish about fans trying to get a decent kick off time for a glorified friendly 200 miles away. Indeed the threat of a boycott was successful as it was moved from 5:30 pm to 4pm. That extra 90 minutes gives fans trying to get a train back more breathing space.

There is also a world of difference between a champions league final and a charity shield game.

I think we've already had a discussion on this and agreed to disagree, still awaiting the apology for being called a dickhead by the way, all for having a difference of opinion on a football forum.

I hope the Charity Shield is a success and our end isn't rammed out with Arse fans. My tongue in cheek post would also include the Newcastle game kick-off too, you can't keep everyone happy, unfortunately.
