So if its gollum will he be allowed to bring his own back room staff or will he have the fergie back room staff to deal with?

It will be very interesting how he deals with Rooney after their fallout.

For once on the BBC coverage there was someone brave enough to speculate that Ferguson has appointed a 'mini me.'
I believe Ferguson believes that.
He is wrong.

He's less charismatic, less vile version. He only seems to surpass Ferguson for dullness in the dour Scottish manager stakes and there's plenty of them! Can't see any logic whatsoever behind it which is obviously a good thing. No trophies is one thing that graphic showing his record against most successful clubs in past decade is absymal.

Moment he loses a game there will be comparisons and calls for his head. The only question is whether the owners might give him time. They aren't exactly bothered about popularity so they won't bow down to fan pressure easily. Still bet Ferguson is back as caretaker in under 18 months.

Considering his ego Mourinho will probably see it as an incredible insult. Which really it is being rejected in preference to an unproven Moyes.

Can't imagine Everton fans are too thrilled about it but its clear a takeover is the key there. Everyone on here knows what that can bring.

I'm still convinced if Leeds the stupid bastards hadn't sold him cuntana then he would have failed. We should all blame leslie ash and howard wilkinson for all this.

On the BBC website .

BREAKING NEWS
David Moyes is set to be appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Manchester United.

An announcement could be made tomorrow afternoon.

You could go one further and blame Dion Dublin for getting injured. It's that which lead to them signing Cantona. Mad really, the tiny things these things balance on.

I'm loving the rag fans outrage. Of all the managers they would have picked Moyes had to be near the bottom of that list. It's fucking hilarious.

Or just blame Mark Robins for scoring at Forest in the Cup, he'd have been gone in 1990 but for that.

So erm, is this er, the end of the erm... agenda? ;-)

Not for a while yet

They will still be a cash cow for Sky and their armchairs. The media will try and brainwash the rag fans by saying Moyes is the right man for the job and spout other shite about him(even though hes won fuck all)

However if he doesnt hit the ground running the media will slowly turn on him and the club

I will give it about 12-18 months
What, like that stat they had about his away record?

Isnt that from months ago. Remember seeing the screenshot long before today.

Not sure, but talksport ran it too earlier on, on drivetime.

Or just blame Taggart Snr for not pulling out

Collymore has just been on talksport, reckoning that other Top 4 contenders could opt to push their spending and take advantage of Moyes' early days at the swamp.

I blame the Mansours for not buying Everton.

My favourite part of the media spin is this line of "He's left them in a great position".

Two players retiring, a star centre forward who has maybe 2 seasons left in him, once centre half in his mid 30's, another who can barely manage half a season, Rooney who's form goes up and down more than the members of his local bingo club etc.

In the next couple of years that side is going to need major surgery. It's very good now but he's got out before it goes wrong.

I'd feel for Moyes if he wasn't such a ****. Always knew I hated him for a good reason.

Sky showing a little special programme on the 4-3 against us tonight, perfectly sums up most of his career and their bias classing that as 'football gold'

Media reporting it like he has died.

"A sad day for football".

"A great loss".

I almost had the jelly an ice cream out again when I first turned on the TV today
