I'm guessing it will be pretty close call for the Barca home game. For me he's the difference between having a fair chance and not much chance.

Do we dare play 4-2-2-2 again without him? It seems that's the only way we play, but...
 
It cannot be overstated how big this news is. We're looking now at odds on we have him and Nasri back for the Catalan encounter.
Get past Norwich and S'land and rest a few players against Chelsea, including Yaya or Silva if needs be. The league and Europe take priority.
 
Without him it should be 4231 or even 451.Formation is only one thing, the workrate will have to be immense and not only from our defensive players.

We will be pressed and wont be able to play our usual passing game. for this reason I would change the formation to a more of a counter style because most of the teams do this vs Barca, Mourinho opted to this many times at Real and if Barca has weaknesses that balls in the air and counters.

But if we play our open style in the middle, like we did vs Bayern at home we could 20 down in 20 minutes again.
 
All this talk of prioritising games is a load of rubbish. Being prepared to lose one game does not mean you necessarily win another and playing your stars doesn't stop players getting injured in training! We have to go out to beat Norwich, Sunderland, Chelsea and Barca - keep "trying to win the next game" - and pick sides accordingly. Ferna is one of our very best team, worth every penny of what we paid for him, but what did us on Monday, as much as anything else, was that replacements like Garcia and more especially Milner, were not available either. That's before we talk about switching the formation. Pick the team, get it out on the pitch and let it do the business. And don't be scared of anyone.

Yet Jo is in the Brazilian national squad and Fernandinho is not. Does not compute
