I thought everyone played well today, him included.

He clearly isn't a £30m player but the price isn't his fault.

He has been inconsistent but hopefully he will come good consistently.

I am not having that one bit, for most of the games he has played for us he has been great

Doing the same job Barry did but with a great deal more mobility and a far better range of passing.
People are just looking at the price tag and expecting him to be scoring and creating goals every week. It's blinkering people to what he actually does and how well he does it.
Can't talk for others but the price tag doesn't even register when I'm watching him. He's going to be a top signing, I've no doubts about that, but whilst he's getting to grips with the pace of the league he's invariably going to get dispossessed from time to time. The trick is to not lose it in the areas he has so far. I've posted earlier that I like him, I've certainly seen enough of what he does well to make me think we've got ourselves a good'un.

Was that his 4th booking so far this season. Every single booking has come from him losing possession in the middle and needlessly fouling his man. Not good at this level, really learn from your fucking mistakes after the first, second, maybe even the third booking or will it take a ban before the penny drops. Its not schoolboy level. I watch him closely and yes he makes interceptions (he's supposed to) and he breaks the odd attack down (he's supposed to) but other than that I don't get him. Doesn't do it for me and I'm sorry I'm really sorry that all the happy clappers don't like it but for me he's got one of the most important positions on the pitch and he's not good enough.

Just because someone disagrees with your view does not make them a "happy clapper." I think today was his best performance by far and the signs are encouraging. I seem to remember Silva and NDJ did not tear it up in the first few weeks.

No but the problem on here is if your not singing the praises of any of our players, management, medical staff, tea ladies from the rooftops then your generally told you know fuck all about anything. One is simply not allowed to have a view that does not conform with anything but brilliance emanating from every orifice of the club. To prove my point look no further than the last page of this thread whereby anyone that doesn't recognise his obvious talents are patronised - ''I think it's also that people don't really understand what his job is'' - I think he's bang average so I obviously know fuck all about anything. I'm a little inebriated and hung for a while trying to think of the right word/words and happy clapper was the best fit if not quite the correct fit so apologies for the use of that term.

I think he is slowly getting used to the league and he and Yaya are growing as a pair.

I still maintain Barry shouldn't have been loaned out. We could have introduced Fernandinho more gradually, experimented with him alongside both Barry and Yaya, even play the 3 together in certain circumstances.

If Barry had stayed, I think it would have benfited Fernandinho, in the long run, and City.

I've had mixed feelings about him so far. Don't think he's £30M worth but he put a really good display on today. Seemed more fired up and less error-prone.

I said at the start that if he has a good season we will win the title because it's the most important position on the pitch IMHO.

Completely agree, looks like im in the minority but think hes been poor so far. I think he will adjust and come good but at the moment id be lying if i said id been impressed.

If he has been as good as people think then how come we have been struggling so badly in that department? Thats not meant as a smart arse comment either, i mean do you think its down to formations/systems etc.

As usual today he made some good interceptions, picked out some decent passes and worked very hard. He also chased the ball like a headless chicken at times and conceded possession too easily on a few occasions. He's not a cultured player and rarely seems to make space for himself - a lot of his input is in single, hurried touches, good though some of them are. As I've said before, he's a decent player, but I'm not convinced he has star quality and he isn't a young player who we can expect to develop much. But in the right game, he can do a good job for us.

Oh and he continues to get himself booked chasing down opponents who have taken the ball off him just for the sake of it. Needs to cut that out.
