Lads Bender or Blaise Matuidi in the summer would be perfect.

----------Bender----------
Yaya-------------Fernandinho

In European and any tough away games. That midfield would be extremely hard to break down.

I'd love for us to get Matuidi...we'd have to do some shuffling, however unless we trot out something similar to this

-------Matuidi-----

Yaya--------------------------------Fernandinho

Navas-----------Negredo/Aguero----------------Silva

Would rather play Negredo and Aguero together though.

I thought he was very good today. Had to deal with several dangerous counters, and with his pace was able to intercept the killer pass in the counters.

I find it hard to find too much wrong with this player. His time at Shaktar made him a leader so you can tell he doesn't like losing...probably why he works so hard. Good pro attitude.

x 2

One of our best I thought.

Of course, players in his position are going to have their knockers as it looks like he now does. Blah blah overpaid, blah blah not what we needed, blah blah don't know what he does. Bollocks.

If a donkey like Fellaini is worth nearly 28 million in this market, Fernandinho definitely is worth the 30 odd mill we paid. Much better player.

A problem he is facing is that against teams playing strong midfields he's being overrun as he's having to cover for Yaya more often than not. He's getting through a mountain of work, too much for one player to consistently get through IMO.

I agree with the other posters that it would be good to bring a Maituidi, Bender or someone of similar ilk, but then I'm also not keen on making more additions & changes to a squad that's already taking quite a bit of time to settle.

So far I think we have an intelligent, hardworking, athletic and multifaceted player on our hands.

Fernandinho had a good game yesterday. He is still getting used to getting closed down much quicker in the premier league but he is adapting. His first touch let him down a couple of times but that can be said of most of the team, every player makes mistakes it's just that if you are bought for £30 million people pick up on it more than if you are a fan favourite. Look at Sergio, he made a couple of mistakes but we got behind him, sung his name and hey presto he bangs one in. Whereas a few other players make mistakes and all you hear is groans and moans. It's a long season, fernandinho is getting better with every game, I'm sure we'll all be proclaiming him as a top top player that instantly slotted in when our memories fade about the first dozen games. Give the lad a chance.

The thing is that because we've paid £30 million, people expect utter perfection.

As I just mentioned, the Rags paid £27.5 million for a glorified donkey. Who got the better deal? I know they sure as hell didn't. Dinho is superior to Fellaini on so many levels.

Players of his style and quality are well in vogue and rare to come by these days - it's an inflated market for them. You pay what you have to to get a player of that mould on your books, in order to be able to properly compete in Europe.

The bottom line is that whilst he hasn't been a brilliant standout as yet, he's been good to very good for us so far. A clear upgrade on De Jong, Barry, Garcia and Rodwell. Tbh I would've loved to have De Jong still on the books in order to partner him with Dinho, reckon they'd make a great pair.

The more he settles into the prem and once he gets a suitable partner to share the burden of the midfield load with him, we'll be able to get a better look into his creativity and great passing range that he possesses. The signs are already clearly there IMO.

With each game he just keeps getting better, he covers for Yaya most of the time, I know we shouldn't say that because Yaya is "world-class" but for me if Yaya would get stuck in as much as Fernandinho then he truly would be world-class.

Fernandinho isn't a Gareth Barry type player but he does put tackles in, moakes interceptions and distributes the ball intelligently, for me he is an upgrade on Barry and is looking more like the player we were sold. I still think we could have bought a cheaper player, but it took a while for the likes of Silva to adapt to the Prem and the holding midfield role is the one where a player gets the least praise and largely goes unnoticed by the majority of fans.

Maybe he would look better with an out and out holding midfielder behind him, there has been some talk of DeMichelis playing just in front of defence, and if that is a serious suggestion then I'm sure Kompany could play here instead, maybe Pellegrini should experiment with this and try something different to stop us conceding goals in almost every game, because this is of most concern to me.

I think Fernandinho is getting to grips with the English league, and hopefully he'll settle into life over here before too long.

You fishing again Mr B?

He mentions about not wanting to go back and wants to finish his career in Europe, last time I looked we the UK are in Europe so nothing to worry about.

I wonder what position Ferno would prefer to play?

I thought he played well today. Gave the ball away cheaply once or twice, but is still adapting to the league and will continue to improve.

My only concern at the moment, with Rodwell's injury problems and Garcia's incompetence, is that he and Yaya have to start every league and European game at present. This is clearly not sustainable. Time for Milner to get games in centre mid to ease the burden, as it's arguably his best position and we're well covered in wide/attacking positions with Silva, Nasri, Navas and Jovetic.

I agree that Milner should be given a chance as a defensive midfielder. He puts his all into games and should be rewarded. I cannot see any benefit for having Fernandinho in the team, 100% I would rather have Barry in there. People say he is not a defensive midfielder, so why play him. I heard a Spanish journo talking on the radio saying that when Demichellis is fit he will play def mid. Maybe we have been spoilt having De Jong and Barry in that position but IMHO Fernandinho is just not upto it.
