You misunderstand me. I don't think a dedicated defensive midfielder needs a great amount of pace. I think positioning and reading the game is far more important.kun said:What is this idiotic obsession that Demichelis is some Mertesacker II in terms of pace?taconinja said:I might scramble my account password here if Demichellis plays defensive midfielder. He makes Garcia look like Usain Bolt. Most here would implode in 30 seconds. Also Milner doesn't have the discipline to sit in front of the defense in my opinion.markyboyblue said:I agree that Milner should be given a chance as a defensive midfielder. He puts his all into games and should be rewarded. I cannot see any benefit for having Fernandinho in the team, 100% I would rather have Barry in there. People say he is not a defensive midfielder, so why play him. I heard a Spanish journo talking on the radio saying that when Demichellis is fit he will play def mid. Maybe we have been spoilt having De Jong and Barry in that position but IMHO Fernandinho is just not upto it.
He really isn't that slow, okay he isn't Usain Fucking Bolt but he ain't a slouch, in fact I wouldn't say he's any slower than Lescott, or even Nastasic.
Also, assuming he is too slow, surely that would make him MORE suited to defensive midfield. I mean, where have Garcia's weaknesses been most exposed? Oh yeah, centre-back.
I'm talking about Bluemoon's tendency to obsess over pace.
