Turns out he's a jack of all trades, master of most of them so far. Think some people have been underrating his understated contribution.

My impression was that he was excellent on Saturday and his stats confirm that: 96 touches, 91% passing accuracy, won the ball back 6 times, won every tackle he attempted and had an assist. Comparisons with midfielders from other clubs don't do him justice, I don't think, because City dominate possession more than other clubs and he shares the midfield with other dominant and dominating players, but he's very good indeed and he's settling and getting better.
 
This guy is everything we need for a holding midfielder. Quality in possession. Wins it back without any fuss, never looks to have to make any last ditch tackles. Reads the game well. Took a bit of time to bed in and get used to the pace of the game, but now that he has, there will be no looking back. Top class player.
 
Absolutely fantastic 5 star performance. Every aspect of his game was top drawer.
If this had been one of the rags midfield mugs Cartrick or Cleverless the media would have raved & raved about it.( but of course it could never be as they are trundlers at best )
Knowledgeable people said that he was probably the best summer signing in the Premier League. Linneker said after his first match " its taken him ages to come to terms with the speed in the PL - all of 30 seconds ".
