Turns out he's a jack of all trades, master of most of them so far. Think some people have been underrating his understated contribution.

Lies, damn lies and .......this.
Some of these statistics will make a City player look due to City's time of possession, style of play, his role in the side, etc.
If we are to go on stats, which of those players above him would you swop him for?

If we are to go on stats, which of those players above him would you swop him for?

none...the whole point of it is showing how good he's been as an all round player when compared to everyone around him (apart from maybe Jedinak) the others all specialise in one aspect of play (whether it's offensively or defensively), and that's when people have been saying how average or overpriced he's been, imagine how good those stats could end up when people think he's actually playing well...He's competing or beating creative central midfielders in passing and dribbling and beating and competing with hardened defensive midfielders in tackling, interceptions etc. He's mixing both aspects yet still featuring in almost all of the key stats areas. Once he's fully adjusted to the pace of the game I think the fouls and being dispossessed will come down, but with the job he's asked to do it's natural for those to be a bit higher anyway.

Lies, damn lies and...oh, stats and an evidently fantastic player, and you getting the wrong end of the stick so badly that you're now covered in dog poo.

Was around this time that we started seeing the best out of Yaya and Silva after their moves to City too ... i've said before i don't reckon there's a tougher job in football than playing in a midfield duo in the PL ... the fact that after such a short time he's getting to grips with it says a lot about his technical quality and his mental strength.

Fully agree Billy.
Given the amount of time the team and manager have had together i'm surprised that they're not far off playing the way MP wants already. I've said somewhere else that we are looking more like a team, and not individuals, with every game.
That position Fernandinhiodinho plays has to be one of the toughest of the lot to step into and he looked very shaky for the first couple of games.
He now looks like he's up with the pace of the league and more inclined to put it about a bit when neeeded. He seems to be very calm under pressure and can spot a killer pass, and make it, much quicker.
Also gotta remember that him and Yaya seem to be learning to play together which adds an extra dimension to the side.

Yup, he certainly assuaged my doubts about him on Saturday. I thought he was terrific, and not only mentally strong but physical as well. West Ham had some pretty large 'units' in their team, and Fernandinho got stuck into the lot of them

its really frustrating seeing him limited to the the holding role. the guy was a beast at shaktar bombing forward

He's starting to show more of his forward play, just needs time so he knows for sure when to move forward and when to hold. If you think we're ever gonna consistently play him further forward than central midfield then I think you're gonna get a lot more frustrated, but I reckon we'll see more of his forward play even in his current role
