Wholeheartedly agree, Yaya can do anything he wants when he cares & I know we won 6-0 but Yaya's performance was one of the most apathetic I have ever seen.

Fernandinho is carrying him and if he was allowed to attack more I think he would be regarded as the complete midfielder people like to claim Yaya is.

Fernandinho was MOTM for me today, but why the fuck do you then ruin it by slagging off Yaya at the same time? Yaya did not have his best game today (it happens) but was part of a team that stuffed one of the best sides in the league 6 frigging nil, and in that burst that led to Sergio's second goal showed exactly why EVERY other team in the PL would want him in their side, and yet he constantly gets shit off so many fuckwits in this forum, unbelieveable

This forum has been here before with a Brazilian player, namely Jo. I said after 4 or 5 games that he was no superstar and was absolutely slated for daring to even suggest he was anything less than a young genius on a par with with the world's best.

I am now saying something similar ( not the same) about Fernandinho. He is a good footballer, who reads the game well and passes the ball neatly, but he is no world beater. There's a reason he does not get in the Brazilian team and why he has not played in a better sides before now. I do not see the magic in his boots that some people do because it isn't there. He will have good games, bad games and so-so games and I doubt he will do a lot wrong. Played in the right position, neither does Garcia, who, by the way, is also a decent player.

Bluemoon has its' favourites and its' villans. Garcia and Lescott are currently slagged by most as was Barry, whereas Fernandinho and Jovetic can do no wrong. Sorry, but I am just not interested in which player is currently in fashion and which isn't. In my opinion, Fernandinho is decent, but not brilliant and I'm unsure if he is the type of player we need to take us forward. For me, Gareth Barry was/is better.

I'd be happy to come back in 10 or 20 games time and say I was completely wrong about him, but I don't think that will be necessary. Rather I expect that, like with Jo, the 'magic Brazilian specs' will not survive the winter and gradually people will arrive at a more realistic view of Fernandinho.

Only a couple of months till we finally lose them magic Brazilian specs and come to the realization that Fernandinho is in fact just a decent player and nothing more.

I am dreading the day.

I think he is becoming one of city's most important players. Was sadly missed at Sunderland.

He is the engine that covers for yaya defensively.

Yaya has strengths but tackling isn't one of them - when he's on song he is awesome but just doesn't bring that level to the table often enough

Totally agree mate. I think he's one of, if not our most important player. He's guranteed to single handedly cover and stop at least about 3 or 4 counter attacks every single game. Outperforming Yaya in every game. Exceptional player

Yes, Garcia and especially Barry have put in decent performances in the past, but normally as part of a 3 man midfield, Fernandinho is doing in a 2, with Yaya who can't be the easiest partner to play with.

Fernandinho looks a more complete player than both of them, and probably more crucially, better suited to our team than they are/were. It's actually refreshing to watch, having such a mobile player in the centre of midfield.

I was disappointed when Barry was moved and still think there is a place in our squad for him, but Fernandinho has proved me wrong. He is younger, more mobile, rotates the ball better and has the ability to use both feet something which Barry stuggles with. He allows us to have 2 centre forwards and 2 creative supporting players (Navas/Nasri or Silva) and he will get better and better.
