maybe i`m just hoping he sees more chances with us than liverpool fixer??? do think woy will do well for them though!!

Yes he'll do ok i think, but they have a fairly difficult first few games, if they set off on a poor run the confidence may well see them like last season.
think woy is an extremely well organised manager who gets the best out of his players!! can see stevie g being back to his best this season as well!!

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is hoping Fernando Torres will follow captain Steven Gerrard's example and publicly commit himself to the club.
However, the Englishman admits he has no idea what the current situation is with the Spain international.
Gerrard returned to training this week after his break following the World Cup and put an end to speculation about his future by stressing how much he was looking forward to playing alongside new signing Joe Cole next season.

Divided: Steven Gerrard has committed his future to Liverpool but Fernando Torres is yet to follow suit
The Liverpool manager now hopes Torres, whom he briefly met for the first time last week, will follow suit.
Asked whether he could provide an update on discussions with the 26-year-old, who has been linked with Manchester City, Chelsea and Barcelona, Hodgson said: 'No, but Christian Purslow (managing director) might be able to if you got hold of him.

Head-scratcher: Roy Hodgson hasn't had an easy ride of it since joining Liverpool
'I haven't spoken to him for the last two days; he's been travelling back from Spain where he's been on holiday.
'His holiday has also been taken up a lot of time by discussions with Fernando and his people, so I'm afraid the only person who can give you the type of details you require is Christian. It would be wrong of me to say too much.'
Hodgson said he would ideally like Torres to follow Gerrard's example by pledging his future to the club.
'That's what I'm hoping for,' he said. 'I made it clear from my point of view I'm really looking forward to working with him and I believe he's a key figure at the club.
'I obviously want him to be a part of the team we're trying to build here and I can only hope he'll buy into what the club is offering him.
'I don't think there are any worries with him in terms of me personally or what we're doing.
'I think the concerns go back once again to the time before I came to the club.'

doesnt sound awfully convincing????? maybe reading too much into it but would absolutely love khaldhoon to work his magic on torres!

In a strange way if he doesn't come to us I want Chelsea to get him. Liverpool with Cole, Gerrard and Torres are a threat for a top 4 position. I fancy us greatly in a 5 horse race but 6 and I feel paranoid.

Liverpool without Torres have no chance.

Cole and Torres won't play half of the time; Gerrard is getting on a bit.

I agree mate. A rampant Chelsea is no concern of ours just yet. A back on form Liverpool? That is something city can do without.

i'd love it to be possible he'd come here, the rumour has been strong all summer, my worry is gerrard will convince him to saty there,he and cole will be working on him.

Liverpool adding cole to their side even if they do keep torres isn't of great concern to me. They had benni last season who's just as good as cole imo and they didn't look that good a side. I reckon liverpool at a push are looking at finishing 6th at best. Us chelsea spurs scum arsenal all have a better squad then them. They will be fighting for 6th 7th 8th positions with villa and everton. I'd love it if Mancini could use his charm on Torres that would be the icing on the cake as they say..

I don't know why we're not favourites to sign him:

Chelsea:

- have Champions League football

City:

- Just signed his mate
- No need to uproot
- We need a striker
- We can outbid Chelsea on both fee and wages

Champions League football is vastly overrated as an incentive to move clubs IMO.
