Fernando vs Garcia

Fernando has been getting alot of stick on the transfer forum lately and tbh it's a bit harsh. It was his first season in England and he did start well before getting injured. I along with others always saw him in a 3 man midfield being the anchor. I don't think he is as terrible as people are making out. Yes he looked slow and didn't seem to offer much for large parts of the season but I see part of that being played in a system not suited to him. He really should of started hard away games in a 3 man midfield and I believe we would of seen a much better Fernando.

If he does stay this season which is looking likely and with a full preseason in front of him I think he could do well if used correctly. He is a specialist player who has one job, to break up play and give the ball to better players. When people realise thats all hes ever going to do then they might start to see that he is a decent player who can do a job.

That's the part he doesn't do well enough. I don't think anyone is expecting more than that. He is too slow, doesn't time tackles well, doesn't read the game well enough to be in the right position at the right time and is poor at even the simplest of passes.

I hope he looks better in preseason. If not I hope we just let him go and play anyone else there, anyone.
 
Garcia lacked pace but every other aspect of his game was good or very good.
Fernando has pace but every other aspect of his game is poor or average at best.
The sooner Fernando is moved on the better.
 
I would give him this season to prove he is way better than last season. He was good until he picked up that injury, so there is an effective defensive midfielder in there.
 
Fernando is a much better player than he showed last season, much the same as how Javi was a lot better player than he showed in his first season here. Next season will be make or break for him, but if we do switch to a 3 man midfield, which looks likely with our striker exodus, then he should be a very useful squad member.
 
Fernando is fucking wank. After getting lucky and managing to shift Garcia I can't believe we signed him. We'll wake up one morning, in about 3 weeks time, to hear he's been sold overnight, probably for peanuts back to Portugal.

I can't think of one single attribute of his that I'd like to retain going into the new season. In all the other players that I want rid of, I can. We'll never win anything with him playing regularly in the side.
