Fernando has been getting alot of stick on the transfer forum lately and tbh it's a bit harsh. It was his first season in England and he did start well before getting injured. I along with others always saw him in a 3 man midfield being the anchor. I don't think he is as terrible as people are making out. Yes he looked slow and didn't seem to offer much for large parts of the season but I see part of that being played in a system not suited to him. He really should of started hard away games in a 3 man midfield and I believe we would of seen a much better Fernando.
If he does stay this season which is looking likely and with a full preseason in front of him I think he could do well if used correctly. He is a specialist player who has one job, to break up play and give the ball to better players. When people realise thats all hes ever going to do then they might start to see that he is a decent player who can do a job.
