Its not strange at all.He is in dispute with his club over loyalty payments. It has nothing to do with City so therefore it aint taken 6 months.

Having signed a new deal in Jan it is strange though that he didn't box off the loyalty payment issue, seeing as he knew he was coming to us.

remember Barton - had a clause which allowed him to speak to other clubs if they bid a certain amount and wanted to go to Newcastle but didn't ask for the transfer, so claimed his loyalty bonus. That was only resolved when Newcastle effectively paid it. I don't see us doing that, but we could see Porto trying to drag it out in the hope we crack.

No idea how much it is, but once we get close to pre-season, something may have to give. We could end up with a player who hasn't had the pre-season we want, the player will be losing £xx per week, assuming his pay will increase when he joins us and Porto are paying his wages knowing he's going and can't get a replacement in. Who will blink first?

Didn't Fernandinho pay his way out of his contract with Shakhtar so he could join us last year? Unless, Fernando is willing to do something similar(and write off his loyalty bonus) then this could drag on and on...Porto have no reason to cave in and his fee is pretty low, so not like they need the money to make other transfers.....

No fella, Fernandinho sacrificed a £4m loyalty bonus I believe.

Thanks mate.....I knew he gave up money to make the move but wasn't sure how......cheers! ;) Maybe Fernando needs to start pushing for this move like Fernandinho did?

I doubt £12m or so is low to Porto, so they'll need to know his gone to confirm his replacement. Plus if they bring a replacement in, they're paying two wages until Fernando goes and everyone knows they want him out, so the power shifts.

This is going to be a big game of poker for the next few weeks. He's being paid and is on holiday, so no rush at the moment, the crunch will come when pre-season starts and we want him in training. With Fernandinho probably in Brazil until the final, we also need Fernando to be ready in August.

Remember that we didn't sign Fernando in January so as to buy goodwill for a potential Mangala sale. It's my belief that buying Fernando outside of a two-player deal will mean that the Mangala option is closed to us, so I'm guessing City are deliberately refusing to close the deal until they are 100% certain Mangala will not come to us.

Fernando or Dembele?
Fernando or Matuidi?

Who's better, regardless of price.

Dembele overrated...
Matuidi is a bit more free in his style, I'd prefer Fernando just because we need that player for the balance.

If it is like some media say it's that we have an agreement over mangala aswell. It may take til after th WCfor both

Fernando should tell Mangala "if you're scared I'll hold your hand on the plane ride to Carrington... Just say yes so I can complete this move."
