Alternatively, you sell Torres for say 45m, the Haaland release clause is apparently, £68m. Would you moan about paying an extra 20m to get Haaland sealed for the summer?

We hardly have any competition for Torres so its Barca or nowhere.
So why can’t city pay 68 m without devaluing torres ? Come summer there”ll be enough movement to balance the book.

I am sure we can, well depends what you value Torres at isn't it? He is worth what someone wants to pay and if he is deemed dispensible by us then its all fine.

No point waiting till the summer if we need to balance things now. Barca might go for someone else.

Why can't we learn a lesson from Daniel Levy for once and tell Barca that Torres is under a contract he was happy to sign and is not for sale under any circumstances and if any club should make an approach him, he will ONLY be allowed to leave if it is in City's best interests, in this case for a price that is a high one.

We have UEFA FFP regulations to obey and Barcelona need to be reminded of this [though they seem ignorant of this if their current situation is any guide].

If we get more than 60mil I would be satisfied. unlike what people here think, we are better than chelsea at getting sell value for our players. They just sell a lot more players for a standard price so it fells like they have better valuation but they do not. 60 mil is a fair price for a bench option. now if he was a starter then it would make sense to ask for 100 mil.
But the deal has to be done in the summer unless we buy a striker because it would be a major fuck up to get rid of a kid who can scores wen we are really short upfront . By all means get rid but let’s not cut our own throats in doing so .

Torres is a better prospect that Grealish, so we need to be demanding in excess of 100 million. This 45 million is absolute nuts. The guy plays for Spain, and Barcelona want him ffs. About time City started acting like a powerhouse and stop letting clubs walk all over us.

So what he has that release clause? Every team will want him, and he'll go for closer to 200 million. Grealish was 100 million and he's not 10% the player Haaland is. This nonsense reminds me of the time everyone thought we were going to get Sanchez from Arsenal just because his contract was expiring.

Because the rules don’t apply to them

Grealish was/is one of the best players in the PL. Torres is a nobody who has proven nothing yet.

You do realise that UEFA FFP regulations were only set up to curb City not to hamper the cozy cartel members ?
