The point is we can have as many players as we like on the B-list and he fulfils the criteria, having been with us two full seasons now and was born after 1/1/93. If he's on the B-list then he frees up a space on the A-list.
that's completely incorrect, we can only play Nastasic as a foreign trained player and consequently he uses up one of the places (be it 13,14,15,16 or 17) in the squad for non- locally trained players (2,3 or 4 of whom have to be club trained - #lancs blue)

Wrong Nastasic will be on the B list next year as he will be with us over 2 years and born after 1st of January 1993.
This is fun, the only purpose of this discussion it to ascertain whether Nasty can count as a non-foreign trained player in our CL squad next season. The answer is unfortunately he can't. He needed to have been here 3 years to be eligible as locally trained - so he will occupy one of the 17 (or less) spots we have been allocated for players who are not club trained or home association trained.

There is no nationality requirement for the B-list.
There is no nationality requirement for the A list either.

Are you doing this just to be a wum now? He'll be on the B-list and on there it doesn't matter a jot whether he comes from Urmston or Planet Zog. Not that's there is much difference.

The criteria for Homegrown on the A list and being on the B list are different. A player must be at the club for 3 years before the season he is 2 for A list. For the B list he must be at the club 2 years and born after the 1st of January 1993. He therefore qualifies for the B list.

Conditions for registration: List B
18.16 Each club is entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B
during the season. The list must be submitted by no later than 24.00 CET on
the day before the match in question.

18.17 A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1991
and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted
period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with
UEFA. Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been
registered with the participating club for the previous two years without
interruption.

That's the rule from 2012, which are in effect from 2012-15, so add 2 years to the 1st Jan date

Basically the B list means you can have an unlimited amount of youngsters in your CL squad provided they have been with you 2 years and are born after a certain date, they do not need to be included in your A list which is the 25 man squad with 4 Club and 4 association trained

I am trying my best to help you understand you are quite wrong to think Nastasic will be eligible to play as a locally trained player in next year's CL competition. If he is still with us and we want him to be available to play in the CL he will count towards our foreign trained allocation - whatever number that may turn out to be.

You are totally wrong if you're not wumming - as some of us have tried to point out there are no "locally trained" or "non-home grown" restrictions for players eligible for the B-list.

So just to make this clear,

1) Was he born after January 1st 1993? Yes.
2) Has he been with us 2 years or longer? (I take it 'By the time he's registered with UEFA' means before our first CL match for that season) Yes.

So, B list.

Eligibility for the B list is determined by the length of time a player is registered with the club from age 15 until age 21. This is exactly the same principle as governs the A list. Indeed there are further rules set out in the annexes that enable an U21 player to count periods of registration with other clubs from the age of 15 towards association-trained status - which illustrates my point. (Oxlade-Chamberlain at Arsenal and Southampton is an example.) I am, however, happy to acquiese in your collective wisdom for a couple of months and await the evidence of our 2014/5 CL squad being published to crush my interpretation.
