So many of the complaints in here add up to little more than "I AM NOT AS GOOD ANY MORE!!! 1!!".

I was doing ok online, probably won the same kind of percentage as I did on 13 but when I won a game I got little or no more satisfaction than when I lost. I've stopped playing it now anyway. For me a video game should be much more fun than going to work not much less. I seriously resent the fact the game cost me 40 quid. EA *****.

I suppose it depends what you want from a football game.

Personally I love the tactical variety and competing against so many different styles of opponent, although the majority still rely on the "sit 10 men behind the ball and hoof it to Ronaldo" style. Whatever style your opponent chooses to play there is always a way of beating him. Yeah you might dominate possession and chances and hit the woodwork half a dozen times in 89 minutes and then get caught out defending too high up the pitch and get beaten on the counter-attack but that's what football is all about. If you're regularly getting done over by headers, defend higher up the pitch and stop the crosses. Likewise if your opponents just hoofing it to quick players then drop deeper and restrict the space in behind.

Ping pong style football doesn't work anymore, you've got to think about it rather than button bashing and hoping for the best. It's still possible to play quick, intricate passing moves but it just takes more thought about control and pace of passes but then again how often do you see it in real-life?

If you want a game of end to end action then I suggest you buy a basketball game.

Agree with this.

What personally gets my goat is this constant bile regarding battering a team for 89 mins and losing to a freak goal.

Do these people watch football?

I can remember a handful of such games with City alone where this has happened. Sunderland away (on more than one occasion). Bolton at home where we hit the bar about 5 times and lost 1-0, or my personal favourite playing west brom where we dominated them for the entire game and Dunne scored a late own goal when the ball ricochet of him whilst running. They won without a shot on target! Shit happens, and sometimes on Fifa it can happen as well.

Suggest if you don't like true realism, go play one of those games in arcades where you get a joystick, a yellow button and a red button where both buttons do the same thing and then you concede a goal and get asked to insert credits.

This is a game it's not real life. Skills should win you games not some tosser knocking it over the top of your defence. People are so obsessed with this "realism" crap they go to such great lengths to prove it. Imo it's a broken scrappy game, so lethargic it's unbelievable.

"True realism"? Give me a break. I find it laughable that FIFA 14 is seen as being more realistic. I'd say there are elements that are more realistic and elements that are much less realistic than FIFA 13. Also when did "being realistic" become more important than being enjoyable? And why does it have to be something incredibly realistic (allegedly) which produces matches that are a scrappy, unenjoyable mess or an arcade game where there are two buttons which have the same function? Why can't it be somewhere inbetween? A game that strives to balance realism and fun, you kow, like FIFA 09, 10, 11, 12 and 13, for example.

Wondered how many I would get with that.

Look, how are EA supposed to cater for everybody? People want different things from a game. That doesn't make a game shite just because this perticular one doesnt suit you.

I personally love the fact I have to work hard for my goals and when I move my players and the opposition around and stick in a through ball from deep to open the defence and then score - I find that rewarding and gratifying. More rewarding that sprinting down the wing, shit loads of skill moves you never see in football, then a sweaty pass and a goal. That isn't football on any planet.

At the end of the day it's a football game, supposed to reflect football. I see a lot of comparisons in the gameplay to what I see on a weekend watching City. I can't say that about previous versions of the game. It's clear that won't suit everybody but in fairness to EA, Fifa has been very sweaty orientated for a number of years now, it's nice to have a change. That will be unpopular with others, but welcome to our world for the last number of years having to put up with skillers and pace abusers.

Good post mate.

My only real gripe is that Ea have once again put out a game thats not ready for release, i really don't understand how they can get away with this. It's a joke from the consumers point of view that they have to wait for Ea to release patches when people are shelling out hard earned money on a product.

That's a seperate issue and you're right, it's disgusting and I've no idea how they repeatedly get away with it.

The career mode lag on PS3 makes an entire game mode unplayable. Ridiculous.

You see I would say that a football game is supposed to reflect football but is also supposed to be enjoyable. I would feel less bitter if they had put a warnng on the packaging that said, "WARNING, this game may (or may not)reflect football but one thing is for sure, it is a load of fucking shit and you won't actually enjoy it, unless you are a mentally impaired person who thinks video games aren't supposed to be fun but are solely supposed to attempt to recreate real life."
The whole "welcome to our world" comment is hilarious, who are you, the member of an elite group who have the moral ownership of football video games? "Skill and pace abusers?" Are you a passing the ball abuser? Of course not, don't tell me, the way you have always played FIFA is the proper way of playing FIFA isn't it and they way everyone else plays it is wrong.
How do you feel about other video games? Did you like the Assassin's Creed games or did they annoy you because they weren't realistic enough? I can just imagine you now, "look at all these climbing buildings abusers, they should take the stairs to the top of the castle like I do." You odd ball.

You sound like a fucking 12yr old kid with a sock on his knob.

Not getting into debate over a football game, you have clearly completely missed the point and not actually answered the question I asked, what are EA supposed to do. The irony in your complaints about how I want the game to be is quite ridiculous also. Your entire argument thus far is the game is shit and is not enjoyable. That is a matter of opinion, nothing more. You then claim I think I am an elitist? You're saying it's shit because you don't like it! How elitist is that?!

Are you basically saying EA should release a game that is based on how you like to play only, and that any deviation from that makes the game shit?

The point I have made is EA cannot cater for everyone, they've released a game that suits some styles of play more than others. You don't like it, big fucking deal.

What I or anyone else thinks of the game is completely irrelevant.

If someone liking a computer game makes them mentally impaired, then you need to get a fucking grip.

I’ve found this has improved a lot recently, was shocking last weekend but when I was playing on Sunday it barely tripped or stuttered once.

I suspected it might have had something to do with the sheer number of people trying to play the game online and the fact I was connected to the Playstation network, I disconnected this weekend and as I said, it was much better. That may be coincidence though.

Ok, to answer your question, EA should try to make a game that the majority of people who play FIFA like. You're the one who seems to think that EA should be making a game for you and you're happy because they have, that's fair enough but to come out with all that stuff about "welcome to our world" and "pace abusers," fucking hell and you accuse me of sounding like a 12 year old. If I was in the minority not liking it, I'd think fair enough, it's just a game I don't like, that happens from time to time and I don't get too worked up but they seem to have created a game that the majority don't seem to like and only a minority like and yes, that has pissed me off. I'm not being elitist at all and there is no irony in my argument because my annoyance is in that they have made a game that most people fucking hate. As for sock on his knob comment, I have no idea what the fuck that even means, does a 12 year old sound different once he has a cock on his knob, I figure you'd probably know. And no, people liking a computer game aren't necessarily mentally impaired, just some of them.

think this is the worst fifa I've ever played. long through ball to bale or ronaldo on the wing, sprint to the line, cross, head, goal. and repeat. Every game is exactly the same.

Hated this game initially. Too slow. Now though, 5 wins on the bounce in online seasons because I've worked out how to use the new shielding button.

didnt like this game at first, but im used to the gameplay now. they seem to have either fixed the heading problem or im just better at defending. i play as shakthar online and love the style i can play with them, i usually end up with about 66+% possession in each game. seems a lot of people play with everton for lukaku's presence in the box. its definitely the most realistic fifa iv played in a while!
