Started a season as City...

Milner wanted to leave so he got sold.
How dare he

I know, I even offered him a new contract at 80 grand a week but the **** turned it down. He's dead to me.

Don't understand why people hate it.

Was playing last night, against the CPU, and so many times I had to just pass the ball from left to right, forcing players to make runs and wait for the gap in defence then stick a ball through. It's almost identical to watching City. I had to use Silva and Navas to roam around and kept passing it to Yaya, then he played a through ball from deep for Navas who scored across the keeper. Yes it's hard and maybe boring, but I think it's extremely realistic.

Problem is a lot of people are used to pace and skill moves and playing Fifa like an arcade game. Those people will hate this Fifa.

Personally believe the build up play is the closest thing to realism they've ever managed. Whether people want that in a game however, is another question.

Agreed. The players seem to make more intelligent runs, more often too. It does make it far more realistic, shooting seems to have improved slightly too, although, I'm just going off the demo. Hopefully the postie will have dropped my copy off when I get home from work.

I think one thing they did get wrong was the ball control, whilst I appreciate players take bad touches, especially when sprinting, and this gives the defenders ample chance to make well timed challenges, for me its too much. At the end of the day they are professional footballers and most have immaculate control. Again tho, its much much easier and rewarding to perform a well timed slide tackle on Fifa14 and actually win the ball.
Just look at players like Messi, Xavi, Silva, Ozil etc etc. You could smash the ball at them point blank and they would have a great touch and turn. On fifa you pass from 10 yards away and they can mess up. WHAT IS HAPPENING

That's what I'm saying pal.

I played the demo and it took Messi literally 5 seconds to bring the ball under control, allowing defenders to swarm him before I could turn and get running at them. Nothing realistic about that.

Yeah I'm agreeing with you mate :)

I have had occasions where a ball has been played over the top from the wing and the forward, rather than take a touch to bring it down in his stride (even Dzeko's touch on a bad day isnt that bad), completely fumbles it and the defender with 17 pace can just toddle up behind and nab the ball.

I like the fact that not everyone takes a perfect touch everytime, it makes tackling much better, but 9/10 you'd expect the player to kill the pass and leave the defender chasing back.

I like how you can cut inside a defender at any angle now, if you know what i mean, it seems less rigid.

Shooting and passing seem better too.

Overall, i like the feel of the game more than last year, and the more i play it im sure i'll get used to the little quirks.

I guess i'll have to try and stop constantly holding sprint, i'm sure that has an effect on ball control.

Yeah you cant just blaze past people.

Re: Fifa 14 Demo

Impossible for me to effectively defend because of how every single player on the game now turns like Peter Crouch. Previously I could anticipate where the opponent was gonna pass the ball/cut inside and I could position my defender in the perfect place to win the ball back. Now I can still anticipate what's going to happen but I can do absolutely fuck all about it which leads to most games being drawn about 4-4.

The game also seems to reward people who want to play long balls over the top for quick players to run onto and punish people who want to play short intricate football. I'm finding it difficult to keep possession in tight areas because of how inconsistent the passing can be and how bad everyone's first touch is.

The game is heavily suited to people who want to put 9 men behind the ball and hoof it clear towards Ronaldo on the break. Getting it wide and putting in cross after cross has also been made more effective (even more so than it was).

I don't understand people saying it's more of a simulation. It now requires much less football intelligence to play (and there's nothing intelligent about passing around the back 4 for 30 seconds before playing a long ball over the top as someone claimed before, haha).

What is hard about that!?!

Passing the ball back and forth in a safe area for about 10 minutes with absolutely zero incision, before playing a ball over the top a quick bloke which is virtually impossible to stop if you're a defender because of how slow they are to react? Please inform me where the skill is needed to use this foolproof tactic.

People have been doing this in fifa online for years, it's just that in past fifas it was simple to nullify if you were able to read the game properly.

I was just saying it was a bit more realistic, not that it took more tactics to do haha.
