I've been watching Newcastle since 1975 and have the utmost respect for Man City fans(unlike fans of Mancockney United).It makes me cringe when I hear our fans singing "Where where you when you were shit" at City fans,I've always thought City fans were loyal and good crack.
I remember when I was 10, watching us get beat by City, 29th Jan 1977,FA cup 4th round .St.James' was packed to bursting ,attendance 45,300 (seemed more like 50,000,clubs used to publish underestimated attendances to fiddle the taxman)quite a few City fans there ,including Ellen (or Helen) ,blonde woman who rang a bell all the time(I think a City fan told me she past away a while back) one Newcastle fan in NCB wellies climbed up the floodlight pylon to watch the game.Even though we lost ,it was one of the best games I can remember for atmosphere.

Nice one mate, all the best to ya - I think you have the nucleus of a decent team, and that was with a few injuries yesterday. I originally thought you were gonna be a poor ligue 1 team, but Pardew has spent well.

P.S. I was once sat in your home end, not too long ago, and a few cottoned on and cornered me down stairs at half time. Right or wrong? I was just watching the match? Idiots everywhere, lads.

In the home end against Sunderland or for another match? How did our fans "cotton on" to you being a Mackem, too? There are several North East accents amongst the group I have a pint with before the match and they're Blues. If you were genuinely at City just to watch a match then you would normally be made welcome. Sit in the wrong end and you've only got yourself to blame.

A Newcastle fan was sat near us yesterday with his City mate. He had a Newcastle top on! We are in the padded tier 2 though so much much chance of bother up there!

i went on a sunderland coach to the away game up there last season, had some banter but was made welcome enough, sat in their end, didn't make an issue or go public in supporting City and was absolutely fine.

Great set of fans who we should always return the favour to.

fair comment mate but please remember what happened that day in 1977 at the SJP cup game - there was an overspill in the gallowgate end and so the police let some young newcastle fans into our corner of the ground, then the next thing hundreds (probably low thousands) of newcastle thugs steamed into our corner and kicked shit out of us - the worst shit I have ever had at an away ground, including millwall, and the first time ever I think that City fans had to have a police escort.

I can recall other bad and violent days at sjp - so please do not recall that game with black and white tinted specs on, it was utterly evil mate
