Fixtures Calendar - 2023/24

I can see burnley and newcastle getting something from us in first two games. Newcastle game especially depends on how bad Pep wants that super cup

I don't see that. We mullered Burnley when we played them this season. I watched Newcastle quite a few times on TV towards the end of the season and they were miles off us.

I’m thinking about heading to London from Chicago for the Arsenal match on Oct. 7. What are the chances that game gets flexed? Is it safe to say that match will be on the 7th or 8th?

Most likely to be Sunday 8th at 4:00pm slot ... very little chance of it being Sat 7th 5:30pm ... as both Arsenal and City in Champions League mid-week so if either is on Wednedsay, this game won't be Saturday (although you can never guarantee anything with PL or TV companies). But if you have those two days covered, 7/8th then you're good.

I think that all we can say at the moment is that it won’t be at Saturday, 3:00pm and (as it’s immediately before an international break) it won’t be Monday night. It will be later on Saturday or on Sunday - probably not Saturday lunchtime as it follows midweek Champions League games.

Pep will rest players 100% for the first month our sub players need to step up but I see points dropped early on

Any clue about when there might be a Friday night or Monday night game in August (after first weekend)? Let's assume first home game v Newcastle is on TV - how many Saturday / Sunday slots could it be?

Only guessing but if last season is a guide we might have plenty of Saturday 3 pm games in the first couple of months.

We hardly seemed to be on TV at the start of last year. Presumably as they knew we’d be nailed on to be involved at the end, they saved our games for later on.

Apart from maybe Newcastle, we don’t really play anyone of note until Arsenal in October. So wouldn’t be surprised if most of the games in August and September were left alone.

Thanks, but that's not really relevant as to how many games TV gets on the second weekend, and when...

Should be announced on the 5th July. Although they didn’t always stick to the provisional dates last season.

Friday 8pm
Saturday 12-30pm, 5-30pm
Sunday 2pm, 4-30pm
Monday 8pm

All six slots have been allocated for the first weekend but generally 4 or 5 of those slots are used for weekend games. City won't be on Friday night for the second week with the Super Cup on the 16th, and unlikely to be 12-30 on Saturday for the same reason. IIRC we didn't have a Monday night PL fixture last season so Newcastle at home could be an opportunity.

This year PL has not given the set dates like they did last few seasons ... instead they have said this:

Based on that, I have added "max by" dates for TV picks in our calendar here:

That's the max by dates they have said 6 weeks till Dec and 5 weeks there on, so *should* be announcing these anytime in those weeks ... but knowing them, we'd be wondering each time after the passing of these dates that why haven't they announced these yet.

Sorry, yeah I realised after I posted it that I was looking at the info for a previous season. Was assuming that nobody bothers reading my posts anyway, so didn’t bother editing it.

When can we expect Sky and TNT to confirm there games for the opening couple of months of the season; 3 or 4 weeks' time, maybe?

Have merged this in here Jim ... see my post a couple of posts above in this thread (and the calendar, which now has marked indicative dates for both Aug and Sept).
